Arrow Help.......battery Symbol With Red Slash Mark Thru It

Please Login to Remove!

My Friend was rocking the 8700 for a couple of months and got a new one and passed me his 8700.

I swithed my SIM today and had everything rocking. Then I powered down and repowered back up as per Cingular the Phone has a dime picture of a battery with a red slash mark in it. Cingular told me to get a new battery or get it tested.

The Store put a brand new battery in and the same picture with the slash mark is still there.

I cant get no innsurance on it because It was handed to me for free....

Has anyone ever recoved from this problem or should i trash this phone.
I would hate to spend $400 on a new phone and have this thing come back to life in 2 days...

I searched the thread for a while and could not find any info....
PLEASE ANy help or advice I can get on this from anyone would be huge....

This has ruined my night....and insight would be great!!!

Thannks in Advance

Download Jl_Cmder (it's in my signature) and wipe the device using it...

Make sure you have Desktop Manager and the Handheld OS downloaded from Cingular and installed on the PC...

After the wipe using Jl_Cmder the device will boot to a white screen... Plug in the device and open Desktop manager and select Application Loader and install the OS... It will reboot after the OS install is done and the 1st boot after this can take up to 15 minutes....

Good luck!

1) Download and Install Desktop Manager and Handheld OS from Cingular website to your PC
2) Download Jl_Cmder (the link is in my signature)
3) Plug BB into PC and open and run Jl_Cmder and do a wipe (once you open it you will see what I mean)
4) BB will reboot to a white screen
5) Open Desktop Manager and select Application Loader
6) Follow instructions and it will install the OS
7) It will reboot and can take up to 15 min for the 1st boot...

it can take awhile, if it doesnt turn on after its finished do this...

open the application loader
click next
plug in the blackberry to the usb cable WITHOUT the battery
when usb-pin pops up click next
you may have to unplug and plug in again for the above step, its all about timing
click next again and than finish
plug in the battery while that java loader is running
should ne up and running after
