So I was about to place my order for the new TMO 8800 tomorrow, when I read a review on Amazon that said there is no headphone jack. Is this correct, or was the Amazon reviewer blind?

Blind. Same jack as the 8100. From the RIM specifications page:

- Integrated earpiece/ microphone
- Built-in Speakerphone
- Headset, hands-free and serial port profiles supported (Bluetooth® technology )

There is also Bluetooth…and with BT headsets going down in price it might be worth the extra money to get one of those than a wired headset.

That's great, except I listen to MP3's (music and radio programs) on my BlackBerry, and my understanding is you can't do that on a BT headset.

Precisely. The 8800 doesn't have the A2DP bluetooth profile so no stereo audio over BT (and you can't really get mono audio over BT either).
