Default BB WDM installed on separate machine - not working

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I've been pushed to install Web Desktop Manager to other location than BES server. But it does not work.
I install the BWDM 1.0.0 without problem, then the BlackBerry User administration service - but when the service tries to start it fails on opening MAPI connection to BES service account.
On the separate server, i've tried to use Outlook to view the service account mailbox - no problem. When I check the registry, also no prob - the MAPI profile name is there.
Whe i try to start the service i got this:
OpenMsgStore() for this profile failed (8004010f).
and: Failed to initialize MAPI session.

In BlackBerry user Admin service logs is:
[30000] (08/20 11:05:27.256):{0x1A0} Init: "MAPIProfile" (BESMgmt) found in registry.
[30000] (08/20 11:05:27.553):{0x1A0} Attempting MAPILogon (BESMgmt)....
[30000] (08/20 11:05:27.553):{0x1A0} MAPILogon Success.
[30000] (08/20 11:05:27.553):{0x1A0} Attempting to open message store []
[10000] (08/20 11:05:27.553):{0x1A0} OpenMsgStore() for this profile failed (8004010f)
[10000] (08/20 11:05:27.553):{0x1A0} Init: Failed to initialize MAPI session.

I've contacted TSupport but they are horribly slow to answer, and also i don't have time to wait 30 minutes on line for help (we have only T2 ).

Anyone had same issue before? Could anyone help me, please?

Is the service set to run as the same service that the other BES services runs as? If yes, I would blow away the besuseradminservice, reinstall as besadmin, and double check the value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Admin\MAPIProfile

All the services were installed with the BES service account, they are run as the same.

And you've installed the Exchange System Manager on this server with the same SP level as you have on your Exchange mailbox server?

Same with me .. also TSupport knows nothing. Strange thing is that it works when installed on the same machine as BES.
But due to load of the users and potential traffic i have to keep it separate :-/

Well, the BESProfile.exe worked ... the trick is that you have to create brand new profile, to use anything that exist in the system (created through control Panels) don't work. If you create new profile, it works like charm ..

Thanks Adam.D.Smith for finding out!

Well, even when i figured out how to install the service, it is not working. When you try to log on into the web desktop it's doing nothing - just sitting there. That happens if you provide correct credentials, if you provide incorrect - then the system immediately resolves them as wrong ones.

I've worked with LDAP guys and the logs from LDAP says this:

[28/Aug/2007:11:09:11 +0200] conn=213168 fd=624 slot=624 connection from
BES to LDAP
[28/Aug/2007:11:09:11 +0200] conn=213168 op=0 BIND
dn="uid=gesmo,ou=prg-dc,l=ea,l=global,o=ihl.com" method=128 version=3
[28/Aug/2007:11:09:11 +0200] conn=213168 op=0 RESULT err=0 tag=97 nentries=0
etime=0
[28/Aug/2007:11:09:11 +0200] conn=213168 op=1 SRCH base="o=ihl.com" scope=2
filter="(objectsid=\01\05)"

The main issue here is why it is searching for "(objectsid=\01\05)" if that item does not exist in whole LDAP. Also this is not changing no matter which user tries to log on.

Anyone else had similar issue with BWDM?

i've seen no official release for it, so i don't think it is, to be honest. i've had it for a few months, did a nice little write-up/first look for it, etc. i don't think the reasons for the delay are related to a technical reason but rather a legal reason (in other words, the version we'll see when it is released will be the one you have - 1.0.0).

Well, it was released for Partners and it was available for download in Partner zone.
I think that they pulled it out because there are some technical issues, as what the support guy said (you can believe or not). The released one was Bundle 23 but documentation on BB pages is for Bundle 28 (still 1.0.0.).
Wonder what they will release.

today i'm gonna wipe BES database and we will see if it will help. If yes, then it's really shame ...
