Your profile says you have an 8800. Do you have the 8320? Did you download and install the OS from the link in the first post of this thread?

I just picked one up today 8320, the phone's OS is the newest version; I didn't have to download it.

If you want it to show up in Desktop Manager/Application Loader you have to download it and install it to your PC.

One of us is misunderstanding. If you already cleaned the help files and languages why do you want to use JL_Cmder? JL_Cmder wipes the phone and you have to start over. Why are you wanting to wipe the phone?

So in light of other OS threads, is anyone discovering any bugs in this firmware yet?

So far my only semi-complaint (not really a complaint) is that joining WiFi networks can be a little slow and every once in awhile doesn't work. I can turn off wifi and turn it back on then it associates faster sometimes. Every once in awhile the first launch of the BB browser stalls on wifi, but if you hit ESC then reload it it comes right up - I think this is pointing to slow association as well, or maybe it's dropping packets.

That and I always seem to associate at 48Mbps instead of 54Mbps with several access points. No idea what's up with that...

No other buggy behaviour though with the features I use, it's rocking like a champ.

What was the point of adding the new Blackberry.alx? I didn't get any new themes.

Yeah, I deleted the vendor.alx I've done this process on two previous BB models without any problems. This time all I have is BB Dimension Icon, BB Dimension Today, BB Dimension Zen, and TMobile Zen (the themes that were originally on the BB). Which extra themes do you have after completing the process?

My app loader wasn't working, so I did this update according to the steps in this thread, my device updated, and my app loader started working fine... but my desktop software still says 4.2.2.14

Everything is working fine, but did I do something wrong?

The only discrepancy I can notice is this odd set of characters when synchronization begins... looks something like "?????.. Intellisync..?????"

That's correct. RIM provides several version numbers: the "package" version number (the whole bundle of software) is .333, the OS itself is another number, the "platform" is another number, and the desktop manager is yet another number. You've got the right one.

Hmmm...I don't see that when I sync...where does this display (PC? Dialog box? Where? or is it on your Blackberry?)

EDIT: oops - didn't realize which thread I was in. I may, in fact, be wrong about the DM version number - I have an 8300, and I'm not sure which DM you should have in this load of the 8320 OS. Hopefully somebody else will chime in. However, the concept remains: separate numbers for each component of the package.
