fkjr2, you'll notice a great difference in the speed... being slower, if you are used to 3G and WiFi. I went from the Bold to the Storm, and there is a great difference. I bounce back and forth between devices, but you canNOT beat the screen of the Storm. It's great.

Default Can't find folder in Step 2, T-Mobile

I see my issue is the same as Neissie's, but don't see the solution. Can someone help?

1) My home computer has Vista OS. I've reloaded Device Manager 5.0 but still do not have this complete pathway: C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\LoaderFiles\OS version\Java
I get as far as ResearchInMotion, then have the following folder choices: AppLoader, Auto Update, BBBI Drivers, BBWebSLLauncher, Modem Drivers, RIMDeviceManager, USB Drivers.
There are no sub folders under any of these last with Share d, LoaderFiles, etc. .
When I search for net_rim_bb_dameon, I get no file found.
Suggestions?

2) Have you got any other ideas on how to resolve my issue below?
My Storm is unlocked, and I've been using it for 2 months for calls and internet with T-Mobile. Unfortunately, I discovered last week that I am unable to access company conference calls with it. It connects to the 888 number, but doesn't recognize the numeric code (usually 7 digits) I input. A colleague at work with a Storm and Verizon service is able to connect. My daughter's Storm, unlocked with T-Mobile customer service like me, also can NOT connect to a conference call. My goal in following your procedure is to successfully connect to corporate conf calls.
I've logged this on Crackberry, with no luck.

Thank You. [I'm pretty frustrated with my husband who bought the Storm and had me unlock the phone. Success could improve our marriage ]

You need to install the Handheld OS for the Storm also.

Default Thanks. Which link?

Thanks. Which link do I choose on the page? And, do I have to register?
Shouldn't I already have the OS?? Is that part of the Device Mgr 5.0 install? My husband installed it, and we just did a Repair Install...

Default Nevermind. Now on step 7. Send Service books from Tmobile site?

Thanks for pointing out the OS install needed to get the Shared folder. Now I see the first part of the instructions.

New Issues at a late hour...:
step 3) My Storm did not reboot. Is this a problem?
step 7) How do I resend my service books? I don't know what this means.
FYI -- the T-Mobile link is hyperlinked to AT&T.

This is my first time doing any of this (bloggin included!) and it's taking an incredible amt of time...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Completed all steps. Still no conf call connection.

Still can't access conference call. Other IVR services - e.g., "press 1 for English" work just fine. ??
See first post of the long evening above for the other details.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've spent more time than I have on this, and am ready to give up and go back to locked and Verizon. Am very stubborn though....

Also, what is the purpose of completing all of the above? Can someone explain? I confess I don't know - had hoped it would fix my issue above, but it hasn't.

Thanks for the learning experience. Yours is complicated world.

Step 3, your device should reboot. If it does not, that is a problem.
Step 7, The directions will show you how to resend the service books.

Good luck.

Just got my unlocked BB Storm and am trying to follow the directions for getting my browser icon with use on AT&T. I'm stuck at:

"Find the most current OS release for your model in this same 9500/9530 model section, in the Sticky Notes at the top."

I don't know where the Sticky Notes are.

Have now loaded OS and Desktop Manager.

When I attempt step 3:AppLoader > Add/Remove Programs and work your way through the process to remove the net_rim_bb_browser_dameon module.

The Desktop Manager says there is no software available for my devise. Do you know what I've done wrong?

You haven't loaded the OS which is also on your device.

Look at your Options > About. Third line down, what is your v4.x.x.xxx number?

And you are sure you installed the OS to your PC, you double clicked on the downloaded exe file and allowed it to go through the installation of the OS process?
