Any unconfirmed Rogers release dates today, I still have August 12, but others told me it can be as late as August 21. Lets hope we get it between these 2 dates.

My guy is saying tentative on August 25 (which oddly enough is a Monday) but more than likely not until the end of September as they are still having problems with radio codes and such...

Lets be realistic about release dates. It will not be tomorrow or next week. From a marketing perspective, the Bold will not be released until two or three weeks minimum after Rogers announces the release date. It will not be sprung on us. We will not wake up one morning with the announcement it is available now or will be tomorrow.
Unfortunately, it will not be available until after Rogers has gotten most of the mileage it can out of the iphone and then can start promoting the Bold.

I agree. I think it will be quite some time before we see the Bold.

I don't know why people keep trying to make this an iPhone issue. We've read several times now where it's the device that isn't ready yet.

I know it comforts some to think that the carriers are delaying the Bold because of a fear it would eat into iPhone sales, but this just isn't the case. The two devices aren't competing against each other. Most of the folks who buy iPHones aren't interested in other smartphones, they jsut wanted an iPhone because it hooks up to their iTunes.

well i disagree. it is well known that the iphone and the blackberry are competing against each other. this is coming from rim directly. but i do agree that the sales of the iphone dont have much to do with the release of the bold.

The Rogers rep assigned to my firm says it's been delayed to early September (at the earliest), and that there are battery problems.

I also disagree. If we knew that the BOLD wasn't coming out for 3-4 months I would likely buy an iFone b/c of the MS Exchange sync and the larger memory for media. But with the BOLD release within the next few weeks I don't mind waiting at all.

Did you actually see them or called them to confirm? Can you take a pic and post it?

You don't represent the majority of folks buying an iPhone, who aren't familiar with nor care about other devices. It's not like they were comparison shopping and settled on the iPhone. They want the hot, new toy. Probably had nothing but RAZRs prior to their purchase.

Ha, well said. Honestly, though, if I had known it would have taken this long I too would have likely bought the iFone as a stop gap until the Bold was released.

Can you have have him take a pic and send it to you? Nothing personal but we'll believe it when we see it.

Well we can't seem to trust you either so we might as well believe any date that we like to believe.

What's happening to those pics as proof? No other Rogers stores has received their demos that I know of.
