Does YouMail take extra minutes to forward the call to their message center number? Would those come from my 500 min bucket of call forwarding minutes with T-Mobile?

No the issue is that you have to pay a monthly subscription to use it. They have a free service but it does not look worthwhile. It seems that if you want to use it, its going to cost you

Yes, they would. After the 500 are used, you will be charged per minute used.

thanks, is there any configuration needed in order to get it to bill like that or is it automatic?

From my brief experience with YouMail, it billed the minutes automatically as Call Forwarded.
