I have a Curve and new Bold (AT&T), and find the 2G signal to be about the same on both (which is good). However, 3G continuously drops to 2G in 3G areas on the Bold. No trouble unless you are trying to download something or running a bandwidth test. In fact, from the epicenter of our 3G coverage area (about a hundred feet from the tower), I have been unable to run a 3G speed test because it won't hold the signal long enough.

Ok..makes sense, no option for 2G/3G due to firmware block. I just thought it was me...i'm running .185 now and it seems to be fine, sort of amazing..with 1 bar i get great call quality? but its not dropping calls. Another problem has arose but overall im psyched about my new bold. thanks to all that helped!

I don't know much about the curve, but the bold gets better service than my iPhone.

I certainly agree with that! Now have 3G in places where before with iPhone only Edge and when Bold does switch to Edge and back it does so in a very short time unlike the several minutes required for the iPhone. I believe the reception with the Bold is as good or better than any AT&T phone I have ever had.
