It's possible. I saw someone else (on another post) who uses Audacity. He emails it to himself using his gmail account, then sends it to his bb. Opens it and saves it. I can post the link if you want. It's from a different forum, though.

Sorry to ask Naive question as I am new here and I got a 8700v from my Company last week.
So what you mean is to 1st send yourself e mail with a mp3 attached in it and then open it in your Blackberry and save the mp3 to your BLackberry and use the downloaded mp3 as a ringtone ?
Is there a size limit to respect for the mp3 ?

Actually, what he probably does is to email it as an attachment to his Gmail account, then using his Internet Browser, goes to that email on his Gmail account, opens the attachment and downloads it from there using the browser. You can't open an mp3 file in an email directly on your BB and save it, the way you can an image.
This has also been covered several times on this forum.
Hope this helps.

Yep, I read that too, but I still can't do it direct, and I have seen it done by the method I pointed out, which is the same method Ragrots pointed out.
Thanks for your help.

When I first purchased my 8700g I tried e-mailing myself the ringtones and have never had luck getting them on my BB this way. I could never open or DL the files from my BB.

I've just tested it again and I can't do anything with the attachment by accessing it through the BB mailbox.
I tried accessing my mail through the browser on the BB and it seems I can't do anything with the file on there also.

sorry to revive this thread, but I can't seem to successfully play certain mp3s on my 8700r. I downloaded a few from lgreenberg's site, uploaded them to coolservice.dk and followed the instructions from there - that was sucessful.
But when uploading my other mp3s and mp3 ringtones from my PC onto coolservice.dk and following to download them onto my berry, it won't play.
Does anyone know what may be going wrong? I was thinking perhaps it was the file itself - does it need to go through some sort of conversion or edit before uploading it onto coolservice.dk? Any help would be much appreciated!

Does it actually get to your BB and not play there? Perhaps there is a file size limit on the BB.

it does actually get to my BB, but it doesn't play..
if it is a size problem, how would I go about cutting it down? is there a standard length (or size limit) for all mp3s to play on the BB?

From another thread and our buddy LGreenberg:
I use his method for all my custom mp3 rings.
In addition, bluetooth can be used for sync, but not data transfer.

Does anybody else have the problem that the ring tones that are downloaded to thier BB are very quiet? Too quiet to be uses as a ringer? Unless of course you worked in a library.
