In addition to what JC instructs, think about it - this is from Hong Kong CSL, there's no way they'd ever release any firmware without Chinese support. That would be like T-Mobile USA releasing a firmware without US English!

I have 2 8320's and I'm installing it on my wifes first...just in case. I'll see if I can tell the difference related to speed if I have time.

It *seems* as if this version actually uses the wifi browser whenever you access a website. It seems to me to load pages faster. After installing the certificates from BlackberryHELP, all is well here. I like it.

Having it set to 'Internet Browser' visit http://checkmyip.com/ and get the IP, then let's do a nslookup on it (if needed) to tell who it's going through.

No matter what browser I use it still comes up with my corporate IP address.

It just seems to be a little quicker now. The arrows are flashing differently and quicker and the pages seem to load up faster. Of course it could all be in my head too.

So far very happy with the upgrade! Did a full restore and everything came back. WiFi seems much faster and transfer from EDGE to UMA also appears faster.

I don't think it's in your head, it does seem faster. The arrows do flash differently, quickly now, as if it's talking to the router more constantly.

It's strange that you had to get the UMA certificates from the BB site. I did the exact same thing you did. Moved from an 8100 to an 8320 doing a selective restore and last night I upgraded to this OS and once the upgrade was done, everything worked as it did before. Immediately connected to UMA.

Yeah, it was no big deal. Only took a minute to install the certificates. Was just interesting, that's all.

I updated and notice how the Wifi acts a little different than the first version. Like there is more communication with the router.... The arrows blink like crazy when getting data. Its like the data transmission cycle has been tuned up.....And wifi is smoother..... like for every sec of continuous data there are like 2 blinks per sec, with the update there is at least 4 blinks per sec. ( this is the arrows in the corner)

Follow the instructions exactly and in that order. Check for the vendor.xml file again.

What file did you delete? That could cause a problem...make sure you restore it. If you can't, then reinstall the OS package again and delete vendor.xml again.

I was deleting a file called vendor.xml with some random letters and numbers following it. i believe it was a wrong one. but i ended up restoring it. i found that file by WinRAR'ing the a file that was winRAR'ed (if that makes any sense haha) when i downloaded the new SP2 Desktop. It didnt cause any harm to the software but i ended up reinstalling it and making sure everything was perfect, because i kept fiddling with the files. But everything is A-Ok now.

Same here, quite nice little OS this is. Overall faster performance and wifi is less laggy I believe.

Probably a temp file of vendor.xml, if the OS loaded on your handheld though then it worked.
