And for all those other Sprint and AT&T users telling us to shut our pie hole... You obviously haven't used CDMA service. CDMA has better voice quality than GSM on average. Who cares? I do when I'm conducting business on the phone and everyone hears me clearly with out all that digitized GSM garble.
Not to mention the interference when at work, whenever my boss comes in with a GSM blackberry, my speakers go crazy. That would get annoying very quick.

Verizon hasn't opened (unlocked) the GPS on the 8830 for everyone. You have to subscribe to vznav.

It's really getting old how people complain about Verizon locking up GPS unless you pay. If you don't like it, get another service! Vote with your dollars.

this has to be the stupidest statement I have ever heard.

I had sprint and still had lousy service thats when I started dropping more and more calls once they took over and ruined Nextel.

Thank You!

I too, like Dawg was a sprint customer for years, every year I moved and got new phones.. yet I always got the SAME exact excuse from sprint, "Sir, you're JUST on the edge of our coverage area" .. three to four years in a row I managed to move around the state of VA right on the edge of the coverage area. I also had to call them months later after switching services to take off a b.s. 90day late payment thing they decided to add to my credit report. It was removed after a few phone calls.

As far as your slightly "faster" data speeds, read this:

BlackBerry Curve 8330 Face-Off: Sprint vs. Verizon Wireless

Quote:

Our Verizon Wireless unit with an EVDO connection was able to load websites an average of 2.5 seconds faster, and streamed m.youtube.com videos faster, too

AFTER REPLACING THE PHONE

VZW 8330: Verizonxxx8217;s Curve doesnxxx8217;t come with V CASTxxx8217;s video or music, but it does support YouTube streaming from m.youtube.com. Our video started after 23 secondsxxx8212;13 seconds behind Sprintxxx8217;s Curve, which had a 1xEV-DO connection in our office. We also loaded some popular Web site home pages: Update: With a 1xEV DO connection on our replacement unit, we loaded the same streaming m.youtube.com video in 5 seconds, three seconds faster than the Sprint Curve.

CNN.com: 10 seconds Update: 5 seconds
ESPN.com: 9 seconds Update : 6 seconds
WSJ.com: 9 seconds Update: remained 9 seconds
Laptopmag.com: 14 seconds Update: 11 seconds
Average: 10.5 seconds Update: 7.5 seconds

Note: Our VZW review unit wasnxxx8217;t displaying the EV1X sign, but we were in a coverage area with EV-DO connectivity. Verizon is looking into the problem and we will report back. Update: Our replacement unit was able to obtain an EV-DO connection and our updates scores are listed above.Sprint 8330: Sprint was able to load a streaming video from m.youtube.com in just 8 secondsxxx8212;marginally slower than the Verizon Wireless Curve. Sprintxxx8217;s Curve also supports the Sprint Music Store, and we were able to download Nellyxxx8217;s Party People in just 19 seconds. The same Web site home pages loaded a bit more quickly:

CNN.com: 6 seconds
ESPN.com: 8 seconds
WSJ.com: 8 seconds
Laptopmag.com: 18 seconds
Average: 10 seconds

Winner: Sprint 8330 Update: Verizon Wireless
Our Verizon Wireless unit with an EVDO connection was able to load websites an average of 2.5 seconds faster, and streamed m.youtube.com videos faster, too.

Verdict
Of course, choosing a Curve 8330 is going to depend most on what carrier you are with, but, if that contract is up, we recommend the Sprint Curve over the Verizon version. For just $10 more, the Sprint Curve 8330 is chock full of extra goodies, including SprintTV and the Sprint Music store, as well as several IM apps, offering a better work-and-play balance. The Verizon 8330 has a lot going for it, and we especially liked its speedy data connection. Youxxx8217;ll just have to work a little harder to trick it out.

MMS
Sprint already said MMS is comming, Its already in the sprint curve owners manual. Someone else already reported finding a folder.

99 bucks and you get it all including MMS this summer.

And dont forget GPS

Lets see 30 bucks a month times 12 months = 360 bucks. Thanks Sprint, that will easily buy my next phone in a year or so, the BOLD.

And I only paid 179.99 for the Curve

I have a TomTom, but I NEVER use it for the simple fact that I don't have it everywhere I go. My BB I have with me everywhere. So AT&T Navigator and the BB is a much better solution for me, than a standalone unit. The point is to integrate devices so I don't have to carry multiple units.

But I have experience with Sprint. LOL I have been with VZW for 3 years ... so my frustration with them is something first hand. Are you sure sprint has no MMS?

Come to think of it .... I did try to MMS my friends phone once, and she checked it on her laptop at starbucks! It probably got sent to her email? I dont know ... I didn't think much of it. But it sucks if they don't have MMS. I wonder why not.
