at any rate, haven't messed around with it at all yet but the phone is operational anyway. LOL. will report back any issues.
I get that too sometimes when upgrading... didn't ever really seem to cause a problem, and I could never tell what it was.

Working great on my TMo 8100. No issues. Seems like a good stable OS to me.
My exact same thoughts so far!

I get this when I try to update. I usually don't have a problem updating my OS. Any help?

Invalid Configuration
The application "Browser" cannot be loaded, because it requires the following application that are not available:
net.rim.blackberry.xml

I've gotten that before, too. Just reinstall the OS to the computer. It will come up and ask if you want to repair or remove the OS. Just repair it. (Make sure the BB is not plugged in and Desktop manager is not running when installing the OS.)

My desktop manager will not ask me to update - i have installed the file, replaced the ALX files in the apploader - i can go into the shared/loader file and see the new OS folder. But when i connect to the desktop manager it just syncs and does nothing, not even when i start the apploader. I am afraid to manually add the alx files.

I have updates my phone 3 other times, this is the first time it has done this..

any ideas?

I'm really liking this OS. It seems rather speedy and I've had no real problems. I did have to delete and resend my service books, though. Flamer: I highly doubt this supports A2DP

Actually, has anyone had problems getting custom ringtones to work with this?

Upgraded to 101. Now T-mobile zen theme seems 2 have lost the "ribbon" menu, replaced with multiple icons. Anyone know how 2 get the ribbon back?

Default A2dp

From what I can understand from a bunch of posts here and on Pinstacks, this OS can play mono over bluetooth headsets, but not true A2DP. Folks still like it.

They also say it does support 4GB

Show me someone (or someone speak up) who has used a 4Gb card in the Pearl...I'll order one if someone can confirm it works.

Hmmm, I just got my pearl yesterday (an ATT/Cingular Refurb) and am wondering if an OS upgrade may be useful to me. I have (I think, I'm looking at Options=>about) and seeing v4.2.0.71, which I'm assuming is the OS version. Are there any advantages to upgrading? Should I go with a version provided by AT&T?
I'm a total newb when it comes to modern Blackberries (I had the original nextel one many years ago but used a treo for the last 3 years). I'm pretty technical so I'm not afraid to dig into code (although I'm pretty awful with java) or troubleshoot, but I'm also lazy and don't want to go through the trouble of upgrading if there is no benefit.
Also, I have a Macbook, no BES and have been using PocketMac to sync. I do have Parallels with a decrepit old XP install that I can use if I absolutely have to but would much rather do it natively if possible.

Thanks for the help.

nb

Wow, me too! Just to tell you, AT&T removed the refurb Pearl on their site, whew. I have the same O.S. version 4.2.0.71 and am wondering what changes are in this version.

Also, the CD for the BB Desktop Manager that AT&T gave me is version 4.2.0.14 (Aug 27, 2006). Should I dl the newer SP2 version? I don't like Roxio and what is usually over the top for simple functions such as dragging and dropping. Should I keep my current version? upgrade to SP1? or see whats cool in SP2?

when a new update is out, especially for the desktop software, get it... there may be inportant updates in there, you're best bet is to head to the RIM site and just download it, its the same lay out as all other versions, you should trust RIM when they put out updates it has to be for a reason

I figured it out. For some reason the security permission for these 2 apps had the device settings on deny after the upgrade. I changed it to allow and google maps works. Now to see if it crashes like on os 4.1.0.64. I decided not to reload yahoo@go since I don't really use it but I imagine that it would work with the same change.
