Or you might want to install desktop manager with custom option and install Certificate Sync so that you can see all the root certificates...there should be one called T-Mobile something...make sure there is a green checkmark in front of it.
thank you; i don't get the message anymore.

That darn "G" in GSM stands for Global.

Now, if you switch to CDMA, you are almost guaranteed that the update will be from a US based carrier. Not 100%, but a lot.

On my 2nd curve because first one a letter stopped working and I had this version on my 2nd and finally downgraded earlier today. I kept having random restarts that I could not figure it out why so I hope downgrading will stop it from happening,

Nope. Rumor I've heard is sometime in Q1 2008. I doubt we'll see it this year.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; Google Wireless Transcoder;))

Bummer! Is there an official document stating the release notes of that new OS?

I had a random reboot yesterday while playing a xvid file... hasn't done it at any other time, but the file was a 320x180 @ 520kpbs xvid... might have been too much for the BB to handle for an extended period of time?

My bad... I just checked and i have OS 180, not 184.

Were your reboots related to UMA or not related?

I think you're right about UMA seeming more stable after the recovery from the flooding. Maybe they were on hold with some update and decided to throw it in when they could blame downtime on the storm.

After first update to .184 several weeks ago, I had to coax it to connect to UMA on 2 occassions, but now I don't have to do anything. The phone does it by itself. Still has a hard time with some hotel wireless routers though.

My only reboot has been while on UMA, on a call, and typing an email at the same time.

It will do it, but you should do a manual backup from Desktop Manager yourself in case there's some power failure or something else unplanned. Takes hardly any time.

It depends on the OS release and what handset you have. The BB device itself has a vendor code embedded inside (I assume on a chip of some sort?); if the vendor ID of your device matches the vendor ID of the downloaded firmware (i.e. you own a T-Mobile USA handset and downloaded the T-Mobile USA firmware) then there is no need to delete this file, everything will just work because the vendor IDs match. If they *don't* match though (i.e. you own a T-Mobile USA handset and downloaded AT&T firmware), you must delete vendor.xml so that the desktop software will load the "mismatched" firmware onto your device.
