I bet it only used 1 core and not even 256 meg of ram.
My 1200 P3 with 1 gig ram did the upgrade in about 40 minutes.

I have had this happen before and now it has again. Battery life on this was horrible for me when I first installed it and now it is better than 423 was. BB software is like fine wine I guess, it has to age.

I know...
It took only about 25minutes total... so glad it just went smoothly!

the upgrade so far is great... after 12hrs... no issues... solid... feels a bit snappier... 3G as good or slightly better... batt life too early to tell, but keeping tabs on it today with meterberry...
i do have a question regarding some of the extra apps installed - like that digital postcard app, and also now have 2 facebook icons, and can't delete the redundant one...
how do i remove some of the 'non-deletable' apps? do i need to reinstall .442?
thnx!

if you already have facebook app installed, do a battery pull and the extra one gets removed.
it does for me anyway.

ok... will try that... although right now i just reran apploader and deleted some other bloatware (audio postcards, icq, some games i don't use, etc.), so deleted facebook as well... which i'll just reinstall... if there's still 2 FB's there, I'll do the batt pull...
cheers

All the good TMO replies on this thread made me finally upgrade from the stock 330. The install went smoothly (quickly) and I'm back up and everything is working great. BES is reactivated, all apps are working well (including Slingplayer) and it freed up 15MB! 3G is now rock solid 5 bars (no more bouncing around EDGE/GPRS). UMA is solid and working great.
New to this build from 330 is the Audio Postcard and separate BES e-mail folder icon.
If you're on TMO and been on the fence about upgrading the 330 stock, I recommend you to take the plunge on this one because it is a much more refined OS than 330.

PS - you can easily delete that audio postcard app (if it bugs you) by going in the Shared folder and finding all the .cod files pertaining to "audio_postcard"... there are two files iirc... Rerun Loader.exe - takes like 1 min - doesn't reinstall the whole thing, just removes those files, then the BB reboots and you're good to go
so far so good for me as well... upgraded last night around 7p.... no crashes or white screens yet, solid 3G reception, better in areas that used to be weaker... overall feels snappier... UMA works perfectly... better in fact (more consistent signal, instead of wandering back to 3G or Edge)... at least that's what it seems like...
i went from 86 to 97MB... so that was good...
battery life i'm pretty happy with so far... running about 2-2.5%/hr (depending on usage)... at that rate, should give me 40-50hrs on a charge, which i'm happy as that is two work days - ie. from 7a on day 1 to 11p on day 2 (assuming 40hrs)... can't complain about that!
i also upgraded from a T-Mobile branded 9700 running .330... i can only imagine T-Mo will be releasing a similar official update soon, as it seems to run so much smoother...
thnx all!!!

I am considering rolling back to .421 (which has the SMS bug fixed) as this is terrible.

Never tried .421
I thought .423 was worse than .442 on battery life to be honest.

I am putting .423 on it now - it cannot possibly be worse than .442

I'm applying this update as we speak. Will try out all week (unless it gets seriously bad). Had to uninstall and reinstall the ROM MSI file. Noticed there were two vendor.xml's on my Windows 7 x64 system.
I'm hoping it doesnt break the Google Apps I heavily rely on.

What kind of battery life are you getting and with what kind of use? I'm just curious.
Let's see, it's just after noon here, and I'm at 45 percent. Unplugged after last full charge about 24 hours ago. I should probably get at least four to five more hours on this.
I'd say this isn't as good as .423 for me as I was going two full work days before getting to 40 percent.
Thank goodness for my car charger.
I'll just use this till the next one comes out.

I have fine battery life on .442, but the caller ID issue is still there from .423...sux. I never know who the real caller is when it happens, until I hit ignore, or answer...

Mine wasn't horrible, but seemed better with the 423 as well. But I've seen a clear battery improvement over the past few days and I'm not sure why. I installed some new apps and noticed the improvement after that.

i'm finding it pretty good... had about 16.5hrs since charging on my 9700 running .442 yesterday and was at 58% still ... to me that's decent
certainly no worse than .330... possibly a bit better (because the signal doesn't hunt around so much anymore with .442)...

No more ALT+keystroke?
After I installed this new OS, I lost the ability to hit the ALT key and a second key at the same time. Now I have to hit ALT then let off, and THEN hit my selection. (Searched for a solution, but none worked). What happens if you reinstall the same OS again? Didn't notice this right away, so it may have been something I did after install, but I'd like to try again. Will it let me?
