I asked this a while back and the reason it's not done is becasue it has something to do with RIM opening or giving access to APIs or something. Although I read that RIM was changing that or at least I thought I read it here on another topic group, so maybe that will change if it's true.

Default Jive Talk Question

Does anyone know if there is a way to set your display name for MSN messenger when using Jive Talk?

I suggest you to ask your question to the main JiveTalk thread or send email to Jivetalk's support. It might be quicker to get answer from them.

Problems connecting, I am receiving the tunnel failure problem with my 8800. I am sure i could find something related to this within the 20 odd pages in this thread but could someone just provide me the information. I downloaded the correct version that was supplied by JiveTalk. Would love to start using this application ASAP.

I am using the carrier Cingular.

Thanks,

Joe

Kyububba usually does this but you seemed to ask orginally for the app. What's your PIN?

Default I've received the link...

...and am very impressed! It's installed without a hitch (Pearl), and seems to be working fine, albeit I've not exactly chatted with anyone yet.

Default Patch available that fixes index out of bounds error

We put out a patch on top of the existing 0.5.28 build that fixes the index out of bounds error some of you have been getting.

The error happens if the app is in background and you had highlighted one of the last few buddies on your buddy list, and a few new buddies have signed on. If it did happen you usually could just hit "OK" (sometimes a few times depending on how many new buddies came on) and get out of it. Nevertheless, it was a rather annoying problem.

The patched build is out on the same location, still labeled 0.5.28. This is the only change in this build. You can update now or you can just wait until the next major build is available later this week.

When the program is opened, it starts in the collapsed account menu. You have to "log in all" or expand menu to log in a specific account. This should open in expanded view.

When you sign in to an account, the menu re-collapses so you cant see which account is open. This should remain in expanded view so you can change status or collapse.

Upon signing in invisible. Choosing set status and changing from invisible to available in the collapsed view gets a String index out of range: -1 error

In msn messenger, yahoo contacts from a desktop computer do not come through in Jive Talk. Adding them in Jive Talk creates a duplicate on the desktop computer.

So far this is a great update with very few issues!

The online/idle times seem to be working now.

Do you have any plans for people to be able to read away messages and profiles on AIM when someone is away?

Thanks again for the great app.

the buddy pounce feature is non-persistent right now, so if you log out for the session, or if the buddy has signed on, the pounce goes away, as presumably you don't always want to be alerted that someone is on...

there have been quite a few people requesting that we make this feature persistent, so that it'll always alert you if someone has signed on, so we'll add this as an option in the next build.

Default Buggy

I have seen the bug issue for 0.5.28. However, I have, myself, seen that when I try to get into the preferences, I have a java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException, null error. I don't know if this is what kyububba was speaking about or not. If anyone has an idea or four. That will be nice thx.

Question....The blue area where it says 'Jivetalk - online/offline' area goes grey on me at times while logged on. Does this mean the connection was lost? I've never seen the buddy list dissappear/reappear during this time but I cant ping the server and messages dont get sent out until it turns blue again. My signal strength has been very good and it still does this, so if it is a connection issue, is there any way to keep it from happening? It happens at random times, never the same.
