Default Blackberry 9700 Java

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone. I just bought my very first Blackberry vix the 9700. So far love it but have a couple of questions for my experienced co users here.
Firstly when I connect the BB to the desktop manager it checks and tells me to update the software. I tried doing that from my desktop computer and whilst downloading there was some error and couldnt proceed further. The BB before and after this op was fine and is fine, no problems there. Should I try to do the update again, from my laptop this time ?

Secondly, one site asks me to visit SUN site and download some Java plugin. I have enabled Java in options. Any idea on this ?

Thanks

Are you having any issues with your current OS version? If not, then you don't need updating. And if you do want to update, go to the top of this forum and download the latest release from there. Follow the directions exactly and you'll be fine.

If you follow the instructions exactly, you can use this OS. As long as the BlackBerry device model number matches exactly (9000 -> 9000; 9700 -> 9700; 8310 -> 8310), you can use any OS on your phone, regardless of the wireless provider that approved/released it. (Technically all of the software comes from RIM, but each wireless provider has to approve it and make it available for their subscribers).
