My new OEM Bold charging pod in action! Excellent buy--(pic inside)
Please Login to Remove!
I just bought mine and it hooks up to the standard A/C charging plug that connects to the wall (the one that comes with your blackberry) Phone drops right in. It's nice and sturdy quality.
I found it on Amazon quite cheap. $14 shipped. ($11+shipping)
**I took a new pic this morning with my Canon SD780IS**

I also have one. Wish the base was heavier, but not really a problem. The only issue I've found is if you have a sleeve, you have to remove it to charge the phone.

no. it does not allow for syncing through the contacts, you can however use the usb cable from pc to pod to charge.

its great for work desks... so you can prop it up and charge...
Thing that sucks, is if you change your bezel to black, the drop in charger nolonger works.

its basically for people who want a place for it on the desk.
its usefuly for syncing, because you can have the wall charger into the pod, so it can charge, and as its standing up, you can plug in the usb cable for syncing.

I assume thats because the battery charging contacts are in the bezel, and the black bezel doesnt have them?

That's a lie--not true. That means you didn't install your bezel right. Your charging metal contacts on the inside of the bezel must NOT be covered up by the pieces of insulating tape. That's where you messed up. My friend's running his black-bezeled bold in this OEM dock just fine

This dock isn't for syncing. It's for charging. When you need to sync, sync with your USB cable as usual. Constant plugging of the USB cable into the USB port will eventually tear it away from your motherboard essentially turning your Bold into a paperweight.
That alone makes this dock worth it.

I use one of these docks everyday at work. It charges the phone but doesnt sync so I sync via Bluetooth (doesnt work for adding software etc).

I got mine shortly after I got my bold a year ago and have it on my desk at the office attached to my computer via a usb cable. I use it for charging. When my Bold is turned on, it shows a clock when I put it in the charger, unless I press the return key. So it is a great charger and my Bold shows the time when in the charging pod.
When it is time to update the OS or do a backup, I simply pull the usb plug from the back of the charger and insert it into the Bold.
I think RIM makes similar charging pods for other models as well.

I definitely love mine! I wish you can set the Blackberry to automatically go into Bedside mode when it's in the charging pod though, rather than having to do it every night and turn it off every morning.
