Default Javelin OEM Charging Dock and Skin Pics

Please Login to Remove!

Enjoy.

Dock
It is MATTE silver unlike the OEM 83xx Dock which is a glossy silver. I think it looks better on the glossy 83xx dock (pic 4)

Skin
Buttons are covered. I like this a lot more actually. I was ify but its grown on me.

Hope this helps some of you. And we can definatively put to rest the 8900 DOES NOT work on the 8300 dock and the 8300 wont even sit on the 8900 dock.

I have a blue skin already - but no phone!

I am due for a free upgrade on the 28th of Jan!

Definitely ordering the dock since I had one for my 8300 and it works great for charging overnight at home.

Looks good! I'm just using a business card holder as a stand at the moment.

Can you do data transfers through the doc as well?

Default Skins for chargin doc

Here's a challenge to all you skin-makers out there-

can you design a skin that fits into the charger cradle? It is somewhat annoying to have to remove the skin every time I want to charge my blackberry b/c I do it multi times per day.

Amazing site BB Forum! Thanks all.

Just got the 8900 dock. Plugged it to the usb cable that goes to my computer.

No light. Zero. Nada. Battery on my curve is at 90%. It automatically enables the clock as expected.

Still no light when I plugged it directly to the charger.

No light? I'll love it.
Had that Dock for my Storm and hated it just because of that light which was so annoying at night.

Anyone out there have any ideas? Am I the only one who finds this really annoying?

Congrats on the new phone. Just wondering.. does the new 8900 work with the old 8300 charging pod? I see that you have your 8900 on the glossy stand.. and it looks like a perfect fit.

I have the black silicone skin for the 8900 and I must say its a must-purchase for any Curve owner. It protects the phone and gives it a good rubber grip feel and MINOR shock resistance.

I took my 8320 dock apart and put some scotch tape over the LED, then covered it in a sharpie... It cut enough light out that it was just a dim glow at night and wasn't offensive anymore.

I wonder if there is any prayer of getting the 8900 to work in the 8320 cradle at all? If the 8900 fit in there you might be able to add some padding, but if it is a tight fit, then it'd be dremel time and at that point I'll buy a different base...

Ok im back to clarify a few things.

1. I don't know who said it doesn't have a light. It does have a light. Not as powerful as the 8300 dock but it does in fact have a light. the 4th picture clearly shows the light.

2. the reason it wont fit on the 8300 dock is that the javelin is thinner and less rounded then the 8300. it doesn't fit. also the contacts are slightly higher.

What price are people paying? I found it for <$20 on ebay. newegg has it cheap, but then they get you on shipping.

It has a light on the back to guide you when you plug your phone in in the dark, but not as RIM has advertised that it has a 2-stage LED light that indicates new messages, etc. That light is not visible once the unit is plugged in hence my earlier comment about no light.

is it confirmed that you can't insert the 8900 into the OEM charging dock if it has an OEM silicon skin on it?
