Pandora.com

I do not understand this.
Build .1710
I have application behavior set to Showcase. Still, Pandora pauses when I switch to something else, another app, or even just another tabbed web page.
Is this a bug, or something I am missing?

Re: Pandora.com
Ahh, heck. Now it is partly working. Still Pandora page pauses streaming if I switch to another browser tab. But if I switch to the email app, for example, it still streams. A minute ago the stream paused when i switched to the email app. Weird.

Re: Pandora.com
My guess is that this is a limitation of the PlayBook browser. I have no idea what the intended function is with regards to moving the browser to the background while streaming audio/video, however.

Re: Pandora.com
If I'm streaming a flash video I hear the audio continue when I switch tabs, so that continues in the background. It's something with the Pandora page in the PlayBook browser, apparently, and not me.

Re: Pandora.com
I hope there will be a Pandora app soon - that should solve the problem.

Re: Pandora.com
I emailed Pandora support yesterday morning (Sunday!) and dang if I didn't get a reply by early afternoon.
The support guy said they haven't tested Pandora yet on the PlayBook, but sounded like he didn't know a whole lot. (He thought the PlayBook is running the handset OS and the BlackBerry Pandora app would work on it.)
I emailed him back re the PlayBook details, reported the other issues I found, etc., and he responded that he has forwarded my emails to the developers.
Despite what support said, I can't believe the developers for Pandora aren't working with the PlayBook.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to the Pandora app for PlayBook, too.

Re: Pandora.com
No Pandora app yet but it should work with the browser now. Recent updates have fixed the issue of streaming from the web when you open another tab.
I just tried it - the keyboard will come up if you swipe from the loser left corner of the bezel. Touch to put your cursor in the box and then you can sign in. It just worked for me though it took a couple of tries.

Re: Pandora.com
Yes, it barely works now, if at all. Some of my stations won't play and the pages goes haywire sometimes. Also there are huge ads taking up a lot of screen real estate. I hope this isn't the finished product because it's terrible. I've switched to using slacker anyway and bought a subscription for it.
Edit... I went to pandora.com on my pc and it's sluggish there too.

Re: Pandora.com
Do want an app, but I'm not have any issues with the website. A difference may be that I have a premium account and so no adds. Page loads fast, starts playing right away, no buffering, no checkerboarding.

Re: Pandora.com
i just tried it and even with the paid pandora one it still has issues. might work slightly better but still freezes after songs, album art on the right side appears tweaked, it just isn't right.

Re: Pandora.com
I downloaded an app called "Silent Noise" awhile back (found it as a workaround to this issue in a thread I believe on CB.com). Fire up Pandora in a browser, and then fire up Silent Noise. Leave Silent Noise as the active window. Pandora will play uninterrupted for hours. Someting about the silent noise app causes the PB NOT to go into standby (unless of course, that "bug" has been fixed). PB does need to be in showcase mode, but Silent Noise just needs to be open - not actually making its "silent noise". Has worked like a charm for me while waiting for a real Pandora App.
Hope this helps someone

Re: Pandora.com
That bug was fixed in a recent OS update - now streaming from the browser continues even with other tabs open and other apps open on the PlayBook.
