Default Maximum download file size must be increased!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone, I am with Telus (Pearl 8130), I was wondering what everyone else's maximum download size is, if it is more than 2.9MB as I am restricted on. This is ridiculous, only 2.9MB! Powerpoint presentations are more, does anyone know if RIM plans to changes this????????

I think it might be restricted by the Carrier rather than OS limitations. Just a hypothesis.

I totally agree, there is certain attachments from work I cant download do to the file size limitations.

whether its RIM or the Carrier, why would they have these limits on the devices?

They set the limitatios, most likely, for bandwidth reasons. if everyone downloads large files then the network will become bottlenecked. just my guess...

yeah, its definitely because of that, but I don't think it would make a big difference, they should then let you download the file with a direct connection and not have anything to do with RIM servers (sounds like your privacy can be compromised like this too?)

But it is ridiculous, only 2.9MB, I can't even access my work documents!

Does anyone know if enterprise users can access larger files from an IT policy change or something?

Using os 4.5 and opera mini I've been able to download files as large as 15mb so far. Just click on the file you want to save while using opera, choose "save" and it will let you choose were you want to save file. Also if you choose "open" it will cause bb native browser to open, if download over 3.5mb d/l will fail. Choosing "save" will allow you to save file were you choose to ( sd card or phone) and will d/l through opera browser.

No restrictions on AT&T. I've downloaded 17+ MB files without issue.

Second time today for the same issue/question.

You cannot load files larger than 2.86mb to the device internal memory.

You have no limit to the size of files you want to load to the expansion microSD memory card.

If you must load large files to the BB, load them to the microSD card.

And I think there's a good reason for limiting the size of files loaded to the internal memory - we have more than enough threads starting with "I lost all of my texts and don't have a backup" because the device ran out of memory.
