Default Dumb question, but........

Please Login to Remove!

I don't know where I get some of this information but I wanted to ask; I'm told the Sprint Bold 9650 comes delivered unlocked. I don't intend to do this, I ask only to further understand BlackBerry, but if someone gets an unlocked 9650 from Sprint, can they use it with a Verizon plan?

I'm also told that Sprint and Verizon use the same cell towers so the quality and coverage would be the same.

Everyone who has a BlackBerry should read this forum! Thanks.

No, unlocked is a term used for GSM carriers. It doesn't affect CDMA, you can only have the GSM portion unlocked. This is for international use, as well as being able to use it on AT&T and T-Mobile.

Sprint will NOT allow non-Sprint devices on their network and the same goes for Verizon.

It is true that the GSM portion of the 9650 comes unlocked from the factory. You can pop in any pre-paid SIM card and get voice and text. BlackBerry data, however, will not work with a pre-paid SIM unless that SIM is from Orange UK and specifically includes BB data. Orange UK is the only one (I believe) offering pre-paid BB data at this point. I can't remember if T-Mobile UK finally started offering it yet.
