Yes - the application is temporary offline - till certain issues (that are not related to the functionality) are solved - I am sorry for the inconvenience - I'll update you as soon as the issues are resolved.

Please guys - be a bit more patient - we are developing software in our free time - and sometimes external circumstances shift certain priorities...

Question Availability of GPSLogger?

Hi,

Do you know when this application will be available again?

If not, does anyone have a backup copy of it or do you have others offline gps logger application to advise for use on a Blackberry Blod (9000)?

Thanks,
Xavier

in the next two or three days GPSLogger should be available again - so expect it at least at the 15.05/16.05 2009

GPSLogger update to 0.5.2

What's new?
* new Icon
* Zoom IN|OUT for Path-, Elevation- and Speed View (working while recording or when opening previous recorded path)
* Zoom IN with KeyShortCut: [U|I]
* Zoom OUT with KeyShortCut: [O|P]

Installation & Update
You will find the download link (incl. OTA) at the GPSLogger Homepage

Actually I just can recommend to all, that when you open a JAD via the browser (that you has installed previously) then you should always choose "refresh/reload" from the #Menu before you actually hit the install button.

Matthias

PS: No adjustments to the Path-Details: alt gained/lost calc... I just liked to get the APP back online.

Thanks so much for re-releasing GPSLogger! I've been going through GPSLogger withdrawal for several weeks!

A couple things I noticed about the new version of GPSLogger:

1. I can't get the "View: GPS" screen unless I start recording a new path. In previous versions, I was able to view the large GPS info screen, even if I wasn't recording a path.

2. I am in the US, but my GPS coordinates are displayed wrong. My latitude is 45 degrees North, but GPSLogger shows this as South. My longitude is 122 degrees West, but GPSLogger shows this as East. This display error wasn't present in previous versions of GPSLogger.

Luckily, when I export my tracklog into a GPX file, my coordinates and locations are all correct.

I'm using the BlackBerry Storm, and I downloaded GPSLogger for OS 4.6+

Thanks again, Mathias, for such a fun app.

Let me check that - I am quite sure it's simple to fix - might be related to the new Zoom function... for sure it will be fixed shortly...

GPSLogger update to 0.5.3

What's new?
* Key short cut [D|F] to toggle display

What's fixed?
* correct N|S and W|E values for Lon&Lat
* GPS & Compass-View will display content without being in Logging-Mode
* 4.6+ only: Compass centred

Installation & Update
You will find the download link (incl. OTA) at the GPSLogger Homepage

It's really nice to see, that the return of GPSLogger is appreciated... concerning the elevation gain/lost implementation: I am not sure, if you noticed you can now look into the sources - So of course you are invited to find a fine alternative implementation - I do not really mean that too serious... But as I have said a while ago it's quite difficult for me to find an "appropriate" algorithm - and what makes it even more complicated - the devices you are using to compare the values does not have any information, how they calculate the values.

Thanks for the quick GPSLogger update & corrections, Matthias!

Can I offer another idea for a new feature? Is there a way for GPSLogger to record just 1 single GPS location as a waypoint?

For example, if I bump into Matthias on the street, and my GPSLogger is not recording a path. However, I want to remember this special moment by recording that 1 single GPS location (ex. the GPS coordinates, label that point as "I met Matthias here", and export it as a GPX file / waypoint).

An idea on how to implement this: Perhaps on the GPS View screen, you can click screen (on the Storm), and a pop-up alert asks "Do you want to record these GPS coordinates?". If the user clicks "OK", a new screen asks for the name for this location and asks for the directory to save this point (ex. SDCard/BlackBerry/Waypoints). A new GPX file is created "2009-05-18 I met Matthias here.gpx"

Currently, I can copy the current GPS location using "Copy to Clipboard", and I usually open MemoPad to paste and save the GPS coordinates.

One more quick question. Is it possible to create a view of current GPS satellites? I have never seen it on any other BlackBerry GPS app, so I'm not sure if it's even possible. However, other smartphones are able to display the GPS satellite view. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:

or

Just some ideas. Thanks again, Matthias!

... creating such an infoscreen might be technically possible - there is a so called "NEA" data block inside the GPS Data - but the problem with that is, that it's quite complicated to find some valuable information about this data block (for free)... I know how to parse the number of sats out of this data block - but nothing more...

... concerning the "record" a single point I have already another idea... we will see when & how this become true.

That's a great idea. If I wanted to create a waypoints with details that feature would be very useful indeed.

right now I have difficulties to find the right way to calculate the course from one point to another one (previously recorded) [planing something like "guide me to point X"] - the algorithm looks quite simple but when I play around with it in the phone simulator, then the result does not sounds logical to me... wired!

Matthias, just wanted to say thanks for the hard work and great support on this app! I just downloaded it and am finding many different uses for it.

Are there any plans to implement the compass into the version for os 4.5?

Also, I seem to have a 'bug' when I am recording a tracklog, if I press the Escape button (the U-turn arrow) to wake up the screen after it dims, GPSLogger stops tracking.

Using version 0.5.3 on an 8130 w/ os 4.5

Thanks again!
