Default What non business uses do you have for your BB?

Please Login to Remove!

I am on the verge of purchasing a 7520. I don't really need one. I just want one! What uses does it have that are not geared towards a business user?

Thanks!
Meg

It glows at night. Very useful in a dark room.

Piss your spouse off is a common one I hear.

Backlit makes for a great flash light when I get home late and can't see the key hole on the front door!

Web browsing is the one that interests me the most. When you go to the store to look at them no one ever has a working model. I want to know how much of a pain it is to view the pages and navigate etc.

You mean by spending too much money or ignoring the spouse to play on the new toy? I already do that on the computer. At least on the BB I could be in the same room with him.

Most of the common ones have been hit on already:
  • flashlight (damn I love that bright backlight!)
  • alarm clock
  • IM in your pocket (friends and family can MSN me anywhere ... is this good? i'm not sure yet ...)
  • trivia/directions/movie times/definitions (just generally having knowledge at your fingertips)
  • pocket photo album
  • bordom releif (with games, newsfeeds, Web browsing ...)
  • Weblog posting whenever and wherever there's somthing to report
  • one of the strongest cellphone vibrators ...
  • picking up phone numbers/email address/IM handles
  • looking like a big-wig

It's already been mentioned, really but web browsing is very useful for checking traffic and weather.

Google Local is pretty nice on an 8700.

Oddly enough, when I first got a Blackberry years ago I thought the alarm clock was the dumbest feature but I actually use it all the time when traveling since I reliably know how to set it.

My SO and I PIN and use Blackberry IM quite a bit.

Like somebody else already said. Its something to piss your spouse off with. Everybody else has already hit the main points of the bb. You will find out quick why its called the crackberry!

I second this ... Even better idea buy her one and PIN each other. I feel closer knowing there is always a wireless link.

All the points that make it a good business device also make it a good personal device with BES.

Its having outlook in your pocket. Plus all the additional points mentioned above (web, IM)

One I have not yet seen on here is using it to take sermon notes during church on Sunday, which is one of the things I use it for.
