Thanks KonTiki, I guess I'll just download it anyway. Do I really need both versions as stated on the Blackberry Site?
Thanks Again

Again because I have had these installed all along for one thing or another I am not fully sure ,I am not a developer I just fool around a bit, but the bottom line is that I did have them in my machine so it is conceivable that you do need them, I would not sin by omission.

I didn’t have any of these programs installed initially but once installing the Theme Builder it triggered to install another program and that program prompted me to once again install another program.
If you take your time and follow the prompts then the installation progress will become easy.

I guess they think that since 4.1 can handle MP3's why not go all the way and turn it into a blackberry winamp...I hope these themes don't get too out of hand because then it there will be too many themes to choose from.

If I am following what KonTiKi is saying I am to open as 7290 then select the icons from the 7100 list theme. The problem is the words appear to be a single picture file (see attached).
So resized the list picture from the 7100 to the dementions of the 7290. Now I believe I need a 7200.thm file and a 7200.properties file to mat my new them in order to get it to load in the builder. Am I on the right track? Any one know how to edit the THM and the Properties file to have it include me new image?

I think I have the properties file modified using wordpad but I don't know what that THM file is.

Sorry man I got you this far but now you got me. I dont have that problem because I am not using the list theme. I am using the 7200 and adding icons from all sources, 7100, 7200, 8700, and a bunch I am beginning to create myself. I have not played with the lists themes yet because I have been too busy with creating my own customized theme. If I have a little time later I will try it for you and will report unless someone else beats me to it. I think Guest posted something with a list theme at the top of the thread, he may already have some of those answers.
EDIT:
Soapm, I went and tried playing with the list themes, and you are right it is ll one item, about all that can be done is change color, size or font. There are a few minor icons you can change but not the list. About all you can do is make whatever few changes you want to he list themes and try to export it to see if it works. I have a funny feeling thought that it will only work on the 7100 series itself by virtue of the screen sizing. I may be wrong. As I stated before I have been playing with the icons themes only (and having a ball I may add here).

hey KonTiki, do you know a fast way to do stenciling in photoshop? i'm familiar with the basics of photoshop as i am a film/video editor, but have not had much occasion to really dig into it. i've created a bunch of icons, but i need to cut the main images out, then make the canvas transparent. i know how to make the canvas transparent, but just have never had to stencil (or some call it rotoscope) out images in photoshop.

What i do is use the Magic Wand. I select the wand and come to the image and click any place on the image, this creates a marquee on the entire image. Once the image is marqueed, I right click on top of the section I want to select and choose select inverse. Ussually this does it, sometimes only part of the entire image you were trying to select is marqueed so I click on the area that is left and choose add. I may repeat this as needed. Hope that helps you.

Thanx tiki! I actually figured out how to do it already. Go to filters, extract. It opens up a dialogue and palette that allows you to quickly extract an image from its background by using a highlight tool to highlight the edges (make sure you check the box that says smart highlight if the image has very clearly defined edges), then use the bucket tool to fill the inside of the highlighted image, and boo yaa! You now have a beautiful icon just begging to be added to your homescreen! Just make sure the icon is sized to around 60x56 pixels. Maybe a little more depending on the image. We should create a thread and post theme elements we create so others can use them, if they want, when building their own themes. All they'd have to do is convert them to .png files.

Hey great, see it was now your turn to teach me, I did not know how to do it that way, I am going to go try it right now.
Worked great man. I had never tried it that way, see ya can teach an old dog new tricks after all.
I am up for a thread if people are interested, Id be willing to share.

The JDE 4.1 is required to use Theme Builder. Java 5.0 is required to use JDE 4.1.
So:
Ensure you have:
latest Java SDK. (5.0 I believe), first.
latest JDE (4.1), second.
Then, install Plazmic CDK 4.1.

As well, don't forget to read the System Requirements section on the download page at plazmic.com and to view the Release Notes, near the bottom of the page, beside the download link. Some useful stuff is included in there...

two questions
1. why do you need to load the theme reader alx file? shouldnt the phone recognize the theme on its own!
2. can someone make the theme for the 7100i? i loaded the southpark one and it showed up in my themes list but no option to activate it

A couple of possibilities.
Could it be that the 8700 themes are not recognized by the 7100i BB? Or did you not load the reader file with it?

The theme reader is needed because these are not "native" themes. the theme reader is the translator.

Nice work Zro! I'd "judge" the Runes theme to be the best one out there so far. ;)
Themes are specific to a BlackBerry model due to different screen and icon resolutions. The ones I posted will only work on the 8700.

It says that it creates themes for 7200 devices and I have a 7230. But it also says that I have to have BB JDE v4.1 while my BB has 4.0.185 of the OS. Will I be able to load and run themes?
Has anyones created themes for 72xx devices?? If so I would like to try them.
Thanks!

I will be creating themes for my 7100i. I will post them once I finish. I'm in school, have a family and a full time job. So, needless to say, my output is slow going but I will post something soon. Right now I'm working on a comic book/sci fi theme. See my earlier post.

Yo, Zro or da hunter, when I change the color of anything under the banner tab, date, signal meter, etc. When I export, everything goes fine until, banner: SVG compiler error. Wtf? Can't figure out why its doing that. Any suggestions?
