Question Help Google maps 4.x Wikipedia layers fails to have "more info"

Please Login to Remove!

I just want to understand if the feature was removed ... (possibly due to copy rights reasons...)

All of my previous versions of Google Maps had it OK: when I would click on a Wikipedia icons in Wikipedia layer it would have "more info" with a mini description and then even a link to the Wikipedia article

sine I updated to 4.x (now on latest 4.0.2) it doesn't have that any more

that sucks...

can I get a confirmation that this is for everyone? any work around? any reasons... links...

Thank you...

PS I am on a BB Tour 9630 v4.7.1.61 Verizon (Google Maps 4.0.2)

I got ver 4.02 on my BB 9700 and it works fine for me. I see all of the W icons on my map and I am able to click in it to read the info.

I was going to create a new topic but just found this one. I have a query, I never get Gmap working a single time after I purchase ma 9000. I installed the latest 4.0.2 version, but it stucks on the loading screen and after 10-15 seconds an error pops up like this- 'Network unavailable:This application requires a data connection, and some BB devices require reconfiguration to work properly. Please visit Google Maps for mobile on you computer fir more info'. I tried it with Wi-Fi and GPRS but still no luck. What should I do?
Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (L'neuf trois)

Do you have a data plan -- BlackBerry or generic?

Well what a Data Plan do? Should I call my network provider to activate it? Is it so high in cost?

Check the links in post # 7 for what it does.

You'd probably need to contact your provider to find out how much it costs because it varies among providers. And you would need to contact them to activate it.

guys this has gone so off topic

I was really neat when I could click on "more info" in Google Maps inside the Wikipeida icons

It interesting that DeanQ reports that on his 9700 he is able to do it just fine

Okay, I just tried it, InGearX.

I have an 8900 with a data plan and I added the Wikipedia layer and clicked on a W icon.

When I selected the icon, it allowed me to then select More Info. When I did, there was a small window showing me the en.wikipedia.org link and clicking again opened the BB browser and pulled up the Wikipedia page just fine.

I happen to be in my office with a Wi-Fi connection, but I think it would work on the street also.

Version 4.0.1 (#4012) gorganic
OS 4.6.

Hope that helps with a useful data point.

It works fine for me on my 9630 also. Maybe check the Google Maps Mobile help site?
