Default Leather case for 8700 with Magnet?

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know where a quality leather case with the sleeper magnet for the 8700 can be found? Neither RIM or the well known accessory suppliers seem to have it shown. Any idea when the OEM leather case(s) will be available from RIM?

They always lag, sometimes for months, after the device is released....
You would think that the accessory suppliers would get prop devices to use to make the cases, but I suspect that RIM is not in business to help them along.....

What's interesting is that the 7130e just came out and they already have a buttload of cases and pouches for this one on the Blackberry site.

ME TOO! Would love one like the OEM RIM leather slip-in holster with the swivel/locking belt clip. I am sure it will come just going to take RIM and few months.

Hope they hurry as I hate the plastic clip

that's the same case i have for my 7290...the 8700 is too smaa for that case, plus the sleep feature does not work right since the fit it's so loose.
also i paid 9.95 for the exact same case

I goggled the same site, it looks nice in the picture, I actually would like one without the clip so I could just put it in my pocket. I guess I will have to take it off my xmas list :(

The 7130e uses the existing cases for the 7100 series that is why there are so many.

We are looking to you to get us a 8700 OEM case! Want one just like the one I loved with my 7520 except it needs to be for the 8700.

Don't know if you got my email, but I will wait for you to send the H700 as I tried the Plantronics 510 but prefer the form factor of the Moto headsets.

Thanks!

Default 8700 case agree but wait

I also agree with you that it was the best 7100 case. However, my 7280 leather case from RIM was better because of the clip quality. I am going to wait to see if RIM has one soon, and if not this will be my first choice.

Thnaks, I just ordered one from this guy to hold me over till the RIM leather case comes out. I like the case but like the swivel belt clip that locks over the belt.

Until then hope this guys cases are going to do it as I HATE THE PLASTIC BELT CLIP!!!

I purchased this one yesterday. It's not the same 7290 case. I specifically asked about the magnet, they said the magnet rests around the SPACE key and SYM key to specifically sleep the 8700 and that this case will not work on the older 7290. I don't have the case yet, it should arrive next week, but when it does I will post an update. I don't even have my 8700 yet, but I am counting on getting one next week also

I spoke with the folks at Blackberry Den this morning and they expect to have both the OEM and their own aftermarket case for the 8700 with the sleeper magnet in 2-3 weeks. I assume if they are getting the OEM then it will be widely available at the same time

Great news! I hope they do as I would like to teach my plastic OEM belt clip how to fly on the expressway!

If you throw away the plastic clip, be sure to pry our the magnet first. You never know when it could be useful to create a sleeper case from a non-BB aftermarket case without a magnet

BIG QUESTION
Does this case have the magnet where it counts to tell the 8700 it is IN the case.
I do not see where that is mentioned in his ebay auction. I did read the thread above where he climed it did so let hope it works.

The Gizmo Skin case is AWESOME. It sleeps the 8700, so it IS custom made for it. It has a square boxy kind of design which looks really good with the unit. The fit is perfect.

The 8700 itself, it’s a pretty nice device… I was looking forward to switching back to a full keyboard… The keyboard is not as big finger friendly as the 7290 because the keys are so much smaller and closer, but overall I am pretty happy so far.
