Default 9700 Wi-Fi Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have a problem with my 9700's Wi-Fi connection. All my other devices are working properly with the same network and Internet while my 9700 is connected to the network but cannot get the Internet. I recently cut my data plan. The Wi-Fi had been working fine without it until this afternoon when my phone was not properly ejected from my computer.

I'm seeing all of these on my phone:
1. Under Manage Connections:
- Mobile Network --> Green check
- Wi-Fi (connected) --> White dash
2. Under Manage Connections > Mobile Network Options
- Data Services --> On
- While Roaming --> Prompt
- Connection Preference --> Wi-Fi Preferred
- Network Selection Mode --> Automatic
- Network Mode --> 3G & 2G
3. Under Manage Connections > Wi-Fi Options > Wi-Fi Profile
- Automatically obtain IP address and DNS --> Check
- Allow inter-access point handover --> Check
- SSID broadcasted --> Check
4. Under Manage Connections > Wi-Fi Options > Wi-Fi Diagnostics
- Local IP Address --> Blank
- Signal Level --> -59 dBm
- Connection Data Rate --> 48 Mbps
- Status --> IP address no longer valid
- UMA Wi-Fi Available --> Green check
- Connection --> Red x
- Error Code --> W006.7
- Status --> T-mobile network error (I am not on T-mobile as I am no longer in the US)

And I have done the following:
- Factory reset my router (still works fine with my other devices)
- MAC address filtering on my router is off
- DHCP release/renew on router
- Battery pull on my phone
- Reformatted my microSD (because I had to after the improper disk ejection)
- Downgraded my current device software (5.0.0.714) to 5.0.0.586 (still did not work)
- Upgraded back to 5.0.0.714 from 5.0.0.586
- Reloaded 5.0.0.714
- Manually provided IP address, subnet mask, dns servers, gateway (I... assumed it was the same as my router's?)
- Made router an open network
- Restart phone
- I haven't tried throwing my phone away or buying a new one. Ha ha ha...

Any suggestions will be much appreciated! Thanks

when you cut the Data plan you cut the ability to use Data. Some carriers resend service books quick and some not so quick.
There are ways to use only WiFI but extreemly limited.

From RIM
.
To access BlackBerry services that use Wi-Fi® technology, the Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry smartphone only requires a voice service plan. If it is associated with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and access to the BlackBerry® Browser is desired, then the Disable WLAN Access to BES IT policy rule on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server must be set to False.

If a Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry smartphone is not associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, a wireless service data plan is required for the BlackBerry smartphone to access BlackBerry services that use Wi-Fi technology.
Note: The Wi-Fi browser or hotspot browser does not require a data plan or an IT policy rule to function.

Hi,
I am a blackberry newbie and i own a bold 9780, iam having issues connecting to wifi networks, when i try to connect to my home wifi or other wifi network the device connects but iam unable to browse the internet however i do not have any problems in connecting to wifi hotspots. First of all, it is considered bad forum manners to hijack another's thread as you have done.

And I think you have solved your problem. Not having a BB data plan really restricts what you can and cannot do with the BB. Many cell carriers will not push the WiFi service book if you do not have the BB data plan either. You should check with your carrier as to their requirements and rules.
