Default Zen Menu getting slower daily

Please Login to Remove!

Yesterday I noticed the menu was starting to pop up slowly in the Zen theme. Today it was even slower. I pulled the battery, but no luck. Anybody else experiencing this?

Also, I am coming from a treo 650, and many WM5 phones. When you click the button to the right of the trackball, does it close the app or just minimize it? I feel like I might have a ton of things running causing the slow-down, but have no idea how to check for running apps.

I don't think the phone is optimized to it's peak. I can vouch for sluggish performance.

And I don't get why BBMaps or GMaps takes FOREVER to load. Full signal and everything. JESUS it drives me insane.

Hit alt & the back arrow and it lets you switch between open apps just like hitting alt-tab on a PC. To close the programs, click on the menu key from within the program and choose exit, otherwise they stay open. That is probably what is slowing you down -- too many programs open.

Will take note. Most likely the cause. I always figured pressing the back key all the way to main menu would "close" the program. Guess not.

On an 8700c, where [Esc] is the button under the scroll wheel (not sure what the equivalent is on an 8100)...

If you hold down [Alt] and hit [Esc], you get a ribbon with icons for every app running (very much like you get when you hold down [Alt] and hit [Tab] in Windows). Using the scroll wheel to highlight an app switches to it when you let go of [Alt].

Some apps, like Berry411, load on startup, but exit when you hit [Esc].

Some apps, like BBWeather, go to the background when you hit [Esc] rather than exit. On that app, you have to click the wheel and select Exit to stop it from running.

Still other apps, like IM+, will ask whether you want the app to remain running or Close (exit) when hitting [Esc].

You just have to learn which does what!

You can find other tips at my tips site. Look for the 7100 doc. Not all of them may work on the 8100. I am trying to get one so I can do a tips doc for it.
