Exclamation Verizon 8703e Observation

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everybody. I just switched BACK to Verizon because of their new 8703e Blackberry. I had been using a Cingular 8700c since March and really liked the device but the Cingular service wasn't as good as Verizon.

Out of the box, I LOVE the 8703e. It really feels different in your hand compared with the 8700c. But... the vibration setting for the ringer is only half as strong as the 8700c. Has anyone else noticed this? Any workarounds yet???

I highly doubt there will be a work around for increasing the vibrate. I would guess it is a physical limitation not a software.

I also found the ringer volume was very low just like the original 8700c. After I updated the 8700c firmware to the newer orange or vodaphone or the others it got much louder.

I agree with the ringer volume improvements. I also felt there was an improvement on my 8700c after I upgraded to bharti. But, and I am not saying I am right-just my guess, the vibrate intensity issue is a different beast then the volume issue. I hope I am wrong.

I know this is not the subject of your thread, but how does the 8703e compare to the 8700c in terms of web browsing?

I've heard that even though the 8703e has EVDO, that the processor is too slow to render the pages fast enough, so the 8700c actually loads pages just as fast. Is this your experience as well?

That is correct. My 8100 w/ tmo edge is faster browsing than my evdo 8703e.

CDMA technology does not conserve battery power very well. I would bet that the Verizon programming for the 8703e dampens the power supplied to the ringers/vibrator in an effort to lengthen battery power between charges.
