Default BIS 2.0 questions

Please Login to Remove!

I am thinking of getting the new Pearl on Cingular, and I noticed from the Cingular blackberry web-page that they have upgraded the old BWC client that I used the last time I had a blackberry to a new version now called "BIS 2.0". It seems to offer some new functions. I just want to make sure I am understanding what it does correctly.

I plan to use it with AOL email, which is IMAP. So is the following correct?

1. If I delete an email from my blackberry, it will also be deleted from my AOL inbox.

2. If I read an email on my blackberry, it will also be marked "read" in my AOL inbox.

3. If I read an email on my blackberry and then mark it "unread", it will appear as "unread" the next time I access my AOL inbox from my PC.

4. All email from my blackberry inbox is deleted when it becomes 30 days old regardless of its status in my AOL inbox.

Is this all correct or am I misunderstanding the new features of BIS 2.0??

everything you listed is a full feature of an imap account, i was unaware that aol worked under imap unless you have your forwarding set that way. then again i have not used aol in years, also those features are true, but if your on an imap, the bis version doesnt really matter....

Yes, AOL is now IMAP since early 2004.

When I had a Blackberry last (early 2005), it was the old BWC and there was no sync between the Blackberry and the online mailbox. It would simply push the emails to my Blackberry. If I deleted them on the Blackberry, they would still be waiting for me in my AOL Inbox the next time I logged in from my PC. It was very annoying when it came to dealing with spam.

It sounds like the new system is much more managable.
