I have a new 8700C with Cingular service. The first couple of days I had my phone, web browsing was super fast. Now it seems to take at least 15 seconds (and sometimes longer than 1 min) for the BB to request a website. At the bottom of the screen it reads
Requesting.........

Is there a way to make this process faster? Like it was when I first got my BB?

I guess I am pretty ignorant on this...should I be using the Blackberry browser or the Cingular browser? Does it matter? Are there any configuration settings I should be checking?

Try giving it a day. Browsing is typically limited by the carrier. If the carrier is having a slow data day, so will you.

Another question - is there a way to avoid having to refresh pages when accessing them later the same day?

You can set it to clear when holstered or with a time out, I would suggest one of the two rather then manually doing it.

I'm having the same issues with the Blackberry Browser. There isn't anything you can do to speed it up? You just have to go day by day?

Go to Settings>Security Options>Memory Cleaning and there you will find the options you are looking for.

Recently I've noticed the webpages take longer than usual to load.

The only reason that I can think of is that the two of you are running older versions of the OS. Is this correct? I use the latest version 4.1.0.351 release 466.

I would suggest it, there have been quite a bit of improvements within that time, such as request speeds for the browser and other internet applications. Go for it!

i also have this problem with my 7130c. i got this device on 9/18/06. but since last nite 9/25/06 and today...it is slow. i rebooted my device several time, clearling up cached and calling cingular. but it was no help. and when i go to my about setting it said my version is 4.1.0.321. so obviously i have the latest version than u guys.

so if one guys is experiencing problem...and im also...can it be with their cingular network?

According to the downloads page, 4.1.0.194 is the latest for Cingular. Are you advocating using another providers OS in this case?

I'm betting it's something with the Cingular network. My 8700c started doing that last night and continued until I left the house several hours later. In addition to the slow loads, most of the time the graphics wouldn't load (when using the Internet browser), and only half of the graphics would load when using the Cingular or Blackberry browsers.

Once I travelled through several areas/towers the problem cleared up. Now back at home the problem is resolved.

For what it's worth, Cingular activated their 3G network in my area yesterday.
