I didn't want to comment until I was sure but since I updated to .175 my UMA has been working a lot better. I still have some handoff issues going from UMA to T-Mobile though. My other problemis dropped calls using bluetooth headset while on UMA.

Overall I have been very pleased with this update.

I was having UMA "dropping" issues at home with TMO HH .171
Once I upgraded to .175, UMA service worked MUCH better.

FYI - My home router = Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (WRT54G)

Default After loading new OS, can't browse....

I tried the certificates but I already was current. UMA works fine. I have tried calls and all is good there. I just can't browse the internet.

When I try I get the error:

HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway

The gateway reived an invalid
response from the server when
attempting to fulfuill your request.
Please try loading a different page.
Contact your service provider if this
problem persists.

Any ideas?

I had the same symptoms upon upgrading to ...175; and it seemed to me that the problem was lack of BIS connection. The problem disappeared after I "registered" on the network:
Options-->Advanced-->Host Routing Table-->Menu-->Register Now

Exclamation Help!!!

I just ran the install of the new OS and for some reason the process stopped in the middle....it told me I could restore my info from the back up file, which makes perfect sense, but now my 8320 is off and will not turn on. The indicator light just blinks twice every few seconds and I cant get it to turn on...

When I plug in the USB cable, my laptop recognizes a blackberry being connected but the Destop Manager will not connect because the BB will not even power on...

Someone please help!!!

John Clark...

thanks....for all your help over on the over thread as well...

and yea, I am new to the forums with my posts, but I've been lurking for a while and have already solved 100's of problems and questions with searches...

Almost every thing I have ever had a question about has already been answered or discussed...

the power of SEARCH is awesome...

but in this case I needed some quick help for what appeared to be catastrophic!!!

Graciasb

Wi-Fi rocks on the new OS..

the only thing worth mentioning here is that the update take a considerable amount of time. It took me about 45 mins. Just an FYI for newbies like me

I did the .175 update and it went smoothly. Wifi is definitely faster. I also had the issue described earlier with only the Wifi or the TMO browser options. No Internet Browser choice in browser configuration.

That took about an hour with TMO tech support and ended up with a call back from the RIM rep. He said my account didn't have Internet service activated and all it would take was a quick call to TMO. He took care of it and in about 5 minutes I had all three browser options (the missing MDS Browser), and everything working smoothly.

Thanks.

Default .180 being release on Monday 22nd October

Speaking with T-Mobile Blackberry support and they got a memo today about the release. They are addressing UMA issues and transfering settings from the Pearl to the Curve.

Holy crap that was a close one. 3hours and finally done. I ended up downloading the multilang and chinese and installed both. Froze and f'd up my blackberry. No graphics. too many errors to count.

I reinstalled everthing with only the multilang and it still didn't work. Then did a handheld wipe and everything's good now. Thank God I backed everything up. That was a close one.

But yea, wifi's def faster. lol.

"No Graphics" meaning black and white icons? That just means there was a theme in use at the time you upgraded that wasn't restored after the upgrade. When that happens the BB defaults to it's built in basic theme. All you have to do is find the swiss army knife icon and go to themes and choose a theme. That usually fixes that problem, with no need to reload the OS.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

So far so good with UMA. We'll see how long this lasts!

Upgrade only took about 25 minutes and it was worth it. Like everyone has been saying, wifi is twice as fast at least! No issues too, everything seems to be working perfect! Thanks for the info!

Hmmm, I have noticed that I am not getting the red ball and red bars showing I am connected to wifi. It says "wifi" next to my current bars, do you think that means it's working?
