Refuses to add another e-mail account on BIS

BlackBerry Bold 9000 refuses to add a ninth e-mail account, stating that settings and/or password are incorrect. The additional settings do not help, referring to the Outlook POP settings on the PC doesn't help, and the server is the same as on 5 of my other e-mail accounts.
On the face of it, none of my inputs are incorrect and my ISP confirms this.
The BB is up-to-date with all software.
I am an experienced BB user and this has happened once before with another account. This time I'm determined to get it working.
Carrier is Vodafone/Vodacom. The service is BlackBerry BIS.
