What appears to be an IR port on that device is, in fact, not an IR port...its a sham. Actually, I'd go so far as to call it a "travishamockery."

Seriously though, its not an IR port, its just for looks.

I think this has been covered pretty thoroughly in other posts. The short answer is that Girion is correct, it's a huge sham.

I know that this may be really stupid and anal retentive of me, but what is there? What point does it serve? Is there any way that I can send Blackberry an email to ask them about it?

It is anal.
But I love that freshman running back for the Horns. And Vince is showing he'll be throwing the ball with the best of them.

One of us should take apart our 7290 to see what there!

I asked this question in another forum and the person said he/she had disassembled it and there was no built-in hardware.

Guys it's just a hole, is all. There's no fun with it either. Ya'll sound like 5th graders.
Let's talk football. Like UT and OSU.

Hook'em Horns!!!! Texas is looking pretty descent this year. I will sit back drink a few beers in their honor and hope for the best. I know they have the talent and yes they do seem to have a running game and a quarterback this year. It should be interesting.

By the way, if it weren't for the analy retentive people, then we would not have the electronic gadgets that we have today. We are the demand and I suspect that BB was attempting to capitalize on this with the pseudo infared port that was never to be. You have to agree that it is pretty deceptive to put the infared looking thing there in the first place... it's a lot a like putting V8 on truck and only putting a 2 stroke lawn mower engine in the car. Granted my BB was never meant to be a "truck," but it gives some illusion that it might. I still like it, but it sure made me think that there was more than meets the eye for a minute.

Just my 2 cents here.
