I'm not a parent, so maybe I am missing something here. I'm just amazed any Dad would do this for a 14 year old. WTF?!

That is not right... this happen more than what we can imagine. I work on a teenager support program at Church and I heard stories like this and believe it or not this happens with girls too.

Why would anyone want their child's first sexual encounter to be with a prostitute? IT IS JUST WEIRD!

An interesting observation, Dawg, so I'll weigh in.
Encouraging a 14 year old, regardless of gender, to have sex with any other individual, professonal or otherwise is asking for trouble. Potentially exposing your child to fatal or debilitating disease by soliciting a streetcorner professional compounds the poor judgement he displayed.
I'm really curious as to the father's motivation, as the article implies he is otherwise a solid citizen. Was this his attempt at sex education?

That is by far the father of the year. In one way or the other you're paying for sex anyway.

The kid has to learn sometime. Too many parents try to shield their kids from the basic facts of life. Ignore the problem and they won't have to worry. Maybe a prostitute wasn't the best solution, but this dad at least has a realistic outlook on human sexuality and is trying to teach it to his son.

No, seriously....
If a father wants to teach his son about human sexuality, the responsible thing to do is to teach them the pitfalls of having sex too early -- unwanted pregnancies, STDs. They should teach him to respect women, to love women and not use them as sex objects, etc.
Taking a 14 year old to a prostitute is not going to teach him anything but disrespect of women, cheapening his sexuality, disregard for possible consequences that can ruin his life. This dad is stupid loser dad of the year.

Maybe that is some peoples' reality, but that doesn't justify perpetuating it by taking a 14 year old to a prostitute. There is NO justification for that. It's just plain wrong and stupid.

How does this teach him to disrespect women? He took him to someone whose chose the proffession. It just goes to show you men and women think very differently about sex.

Dawg, would you want your daughter to choose prostitutuon as a profession? If the answer is no, there is your answer.

It is the worlds oldest profession. It doesn't have to be dirty. The fact that it has been criminalized has made it so.

Gotta disagree with the 'chosen profession' comment. There are many prostitutes in this country (I realize this happened in the UK) who did not choose to become prostitues. They are forced into it by pimps who take the money, beat them, and treat them like trash. Oh, and give them drugs.
When a man seeks a prostitute for sex he sees her soley as an object, without any emotion involved, nor any thought for how the girl/woman might feel (see above about being forced into it).
That very act teaches the boy that it's perfectly ok to treat a woman like an object. It may also feed to a warped sense of what the 'perfect woman' looks and behaves like.
Contrary to a man's opinion, women do not like to be treated like objects.
to that father.

I didn't say it was a great choice, I am just saying its their chosen profession.
I do how ever know a former call girl (no never used her) that I went to school with she lives in a 2500 square foot house in a gated community that she paid cash for. She drives a 65,000 dollar car also paid for. She also has a degree in psychology. She just used what God gave her to get what she needed in life.
