Ok, How do you edit/check the default ring settings?
Please Login to Remove!
When I click on the "Normal" "Loud" etc... and choose settings it is always the same and accepts any changes that I make for ALL the settings. I must be missing something, and no one could help me at the store either.
How do you edit settings for those defaults?
Thanks

No. That link is not it.
How do you set "loud" and not effect "Normal".
Go try it.
It does not work that way.
Your link is not he answer.

Sorry you are right. Answer to your question would be a custom profile/s. You can create your own normal, loud, etc.

Well, that answer sucks! We are all missing something here. Why would there be default settings that are not viewable or accessible? What in the world are they there for? They are all the same setting at the moment...
Anybody help?
MAking a custom is really not an answer, it is an excuse.

On past blackberries, you could go Profiles -> Advanced -> {menu key} -> {highlight the profile} -> {menu key} -> Edit... and edit even the built in profiles.
On the Storm, you can't edit the built in ones that way... BUT...
Select a profile.. then go into Messages -> {menu button} -> Message Alerts...
That will allow you to edit the settings for Phone, Messages (including email, MMS, PIN and SMS), Instant message services, Reminders (calendar and tasks), Other (including Browser and Visual Voice mail/New messages)

I have a theory on this, and it goes like this:
The only profile you can change is the "Normal" profile. Then, depending on what other profile you choose, it will adjust your ring volume/vibration accordingly using your "Normal" as a base.
Example: When enabling "Loud" profile your ring volume is increased by 3 units (actual value unknown). So if your "Normal" profile volume was set to 5, your "Loud" profile volume would then be 8.
Again, this is just a theory.
EDIT: CONFIRMED!

Interesting theory. We have entered the enlightenment period. I don't have a handy second phone to call myself and test your theory. Somebody out there test this!
If it is true, it certainly is odd. But I like the concept.

Just tested my previous theory out and I was right. The only thing to note is that "Medium" would probably be better named "Low" because it actually lowers the ring volume.

wow, i totally cannot believe that the changes in setting were just an increase on everything's volume. i've been wondering about this since i first got the storm and couldn't figure out how to edit each individual setting.

Ive been trying to edit the Vibrate Only profile on my Storm. I want some things to only vibrate in the holster, but not out of the holster. The Storm does not seem to be responding. It vibrates in and out of the holster.
Any ideas?

The holster itself may be the issue.
BlackBerrys have a magnetic proximity switch in them. The switch is activated when the BB is in a holster with a magnet in the right spot. If the magnet doesn't activate the magnetic switch, the BB doesn't know it is "In Holster".
Which holster are you using for the Storm?

I created a custom profile a few days ago, but the in vs out of holster seems to be absent from 4.7. Won't be getting my sleeper holster (from Fommy) until Monday but I was disappointed not to see the in/out of holster that we're used to when creating my custom profile.

Under custom settings you will find three options (IN, OUT, IN and OUT of holster)

It didn't work on the vibrate profile, but did on the custom one. I'm happy!
