Default bluetooth driver problem - Widcomm

I have a new BB pearl. Just downloaded the desktop software (not running enterprise). I can pair with my laptop, but can't connect with desktop manager. Yes, I'm running Widcomm bluetooth driver, courtesy of HP (btw - don't try calling their tech support!). I have read that I need to switch over to the Microsoft XP SP2 driver for the connection to take.

I'm able to disable/uninstall the Widcomm driver, but for the life of me can't find the Microsoft Bluetooth driver. Microsoft says I already have the SP2 download so I can't reinstall. Some help sites say in the device manager I should be able to find the alternate drivers...but no luck. I've looked for a separate or patch for the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator, but have struck out there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Angry Much the same Bluetooth/Desktop manager problem

I am using a Curve 8310 and Windows Vista with a Compusa usb blue tooth dongle. It likes to use the "Toshiba Bluetooth Stack" for a driver array (these are the Widcomm drivers).

I am able to pair the 8310 with the Bluetooth manager (and laptop) without too much trouble, however, once it is paired with the computer, neither Desktop Manager 4.2.2 or 4.3 will not recognize the 8310.

I have done this several times and I have had no luck at all. I have even tried to use Microsoft Bluetooth driver for he BTradio, but even less luck then.

Is there anything I can do short of buying a different adapter?
