Hi everyone.

My 8520 Curve does not let me add private e-mail accounts. If I use the e-mail setup wizard I only get the following option:
"I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry enterprise server".
Also, the menu option in "Settings" called "Manage internet email" referred to in the manual is missing. I have checked that the icon is not hidden, and I cannot find it anywhere else in the menus. I have also attempted to reset the device to factory settings as suggested elsewhere on the web. This works, and deleted my old SMS messages and old (now out of use) email account, but still won't let me add a new email account!

I hope someone has an idea about what's going on?

You need an active BlackBerry Data Plan with your phone service carrier/provider in order to get the Personal Email setup option.

Do you have one?
Is the device active on the BIS?

I don't know what BIS is, sorry. It sounds like the "Blackberry data plan" is not active, whatever that means. I am currently living in Norway, but the device was bought in the US from T-mobile. Is it possible to get an active blackberry data plan from my Norwegian provider, do you think?

You have to call your carrier and ask them if they offer a BlackBerry Data Plan.

Aha. I fear that they may not. I don't find any references to blackberry phones or data plans on their website. Thanks for your help anyway.
