Default Are the Q and A keys still locked to profile and lock?

Just wondering if BB finally gave me those keys back.

You are assuming that the Q10 has speed dialing similar to older devices.
Like you can assign a letter to a number and press and hold that letter.

Speed dialing in BB 10 doesn't work that way.
Add a number to your speed dial list - How To - BlackBerry Q10 Smartphone - 10.1

You can use those keys to type with. That's about it.

P.S. - In my opinion, speed dialing is unusually weak in BB 10.

That's exactly what I was assuming. Interesting that they'd leave something out that was so handy. To this day I miss my 8800 because I had Q to dial "QuikTran" my banks automated teller and A to call my Aunt Awesome. Are the shortcut functions still available? B for browser, M for messages, etc?

No, BBRY really screwed up on this one. They have made the speed dial app so useless, it's not worthy of the word "speed". A number of things in BB10 have now made these devices anything but productive due to the cumbersome methods now being employed to achieve certain outcomes, speed dial being the most offensive on the Q10.

If I go back only one generation of devices, to say...the 9900, I find that that device / OS was productivity at its best. BB10 is a major step backwards as far as that goes. Maybe it will get there, and maybe it won't.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing. It's kind of strange really. BB has a core group of users that prefer this device for those reasons and now they're abandoning them. The reality is everyone hates BB because it just seems to be the trendy thing; all they have left is us. Why abandon us? I've already decided I'm not getting a Q10 - I'm just gonna get a 9900 - and I'm gonna hope that BB will have a new device that fits the profile I prefer when my 9900 becomes obsolete.

Thinking about trying a q10 for the same reason...but maybe I should just move on to Android.
