Default Ringtone size question

Please Login to Remove!

I just got an 8800. I downloaded an mp3 to my media card. If I play the mp3 on the phone it is over 3 minutes long. If i assign the mp3 to a contact, when the phone rings it plays the 1st 15 seconds, resets to the beginning of the mp3, and then starts over.

AT&T tells me that is because the max size for a ringtone is 300KB? I am ot sure I believe this because if that was true others would be complaining about this.

Any ideas?

Default

The reason is because the default length of ringtime is 15 seconds. You can call your carrier (or see the link) to request up to 30 seconds of ringtime before your caller goes to voicemail.
Increase amount of rings before voicemail - BlackBerryFAQ

Good luck, and welcome to the Forums.

Default Thanks, I already tried that...

In the beginning I was just getting 15 secnds and then it went into voice mail. So I called AT&T. They guy upped it to 30 seconds. After he did that, this is when I started getting the 1st 15 secinds playing, then the phone resets to the beginning of the MP3 and starts all over.

That is why I thought it might be a phone issue.

So, how many times do you have it set to ring? Set it to 1 ring or vibration.

Default similar problem

I uploaded a .wav file to my phone that is about 1.7MB and 10 seconds in length.

When I listen to it on the media player, it plays fine.

However, when I assign it as a ringtone - the first 5 seconds of the song are on loop.

Suggestions?
