Default How do I sync my bb BOLD with iTunes?

Please Login to Remove!

I know I have read somewhere that this was going to be possible but did this ever happen or is it still an ongoing project? Anyone?

It works, but Bold does not recognize m4p files, the protected ones. I was only able to sync regular mp3's from my iTunes with my BB. I have no idea how to make it recognize the protected files...

If you burn the protected files to a CD (audio CD, not data,) then rip them back as if ripping a CD you just purchased, that will strip the DRM from the file. This will result in some quality degradation but it's minimal IMO.

Yep, that's what I had to do. iTunes pisses me off though... I paid money for these music files, why should have any issues converting them to mp3s for my BB? I shouldn't be wasting time burining disks and them ripping them back... so stupid.

Well, I guess there is no easy way ((
Thanks for the suggestion, CO_BBTechie!

I may try this. I've been using Windows Media Player to sync to my Blackberry MicroSD Card - it works pretty well. I don't have any protected iTunes music - so I have just setup Windows Media Player to monitor the iTunes directories. Works pretty well - even picks up new podcasts.

So does Media Sync allow you to see the Blackberry as a connected device in iTunes? I have playlists setup in iTunes and it would be great to be able to use those to sync to my Blackberry rather than having to replicate them in Windows Media Player.

You'll use the Media Sync app to sync with your device, not iTunes. But the MS app will show you your iTunes play lists, and you can just select them to be included in the sync.

I just got my new BB and I wanted to do this as well, but that dang Itunes never lets you use the music for making vids or anything other than putting them on a ipod. Like it said above its really fustrating when you pay for the music and then have to go through the BS to use it.

Thanks for the tips on how to get it I will give it a try.

One option to speed this process up... is to get a virtual CD drive Like Magic ISO. Then the "burning" of the iTunes is just done to memory. No cd has to give it's life to get the DRM crap off your files. Then you can "rip" the virtual drive and get your files back as mp3s. Faster & cheaper than actually going through the process of burning actual CDs.

So is this working well for keeping podcasts updated? How long does it take to sync? I left BB for awhile and went with the iphone, then the iphone 3G. I'm missing having a blackberry but have gotten spoiled to not having to carry around my ipod to listen to podcasts (which I do quite a bit of, updated daily). Thanks all

Oh, and I'm on a mac with OS X if that changes things, which knowing RIM, it probably does

I can't comment on using the Max OS X. But on Windows Vista, I just leave iTunes running and it downloads my podcasts as normal. Then in Windows Media Player I have just added the podcast directory as a source directory and it automatically syncs to my BB when I plug it in. Windows Media Player lets you create automatic/intellignt playlists as well if you want to.

I can't get my Windows Media to sync with my Blackberry. I'm trying to copy a digital copy of a movie to the Bold, but since its copyrighted by Disney, they allow you to save it either in Itunes or Windows Media Player, and then transfer it by syncing the Bold to the Windows Media Player, but not the other way around. I can't seem to get the Windows Media Player file on my PC to sync and then play on the Bold, either by copying it with Windows Explorer or through Roxio as part of DM.

I just figured out something which im very pleased about and im sure all of you knew already Itunes plus files are DRM free and work perfectly on the Bold and although the media sync doesnt allow to transfer the itunes plus video files, if I manually copy them through my computer from the original folder to the video folder of the bold the videos work perfectly and in beautiful quality just like the speed racer demo love it

Ok well I need some help. I try to download it from the DM 4.7 and I get an error that says:

Widows detected BBDM stopped working looking for a solution blah blah

so then I try from the BB website like you said and it goes thru then BAM:

Setup has detected a non-English version of .Net 1.1 on the System. Please apply the appropriate .Net 1.1 Service Pack 1 before continuing with this installation.

Any Ideas???

Make sure .net is up to date via Windows Update or MS downloads.
