Default Sametime on Storm?

Please Login to Remove!

I tried to add Sametime using Javaloader as I have done with other BBs but no luck on the Storm.

I tried sametime version for 4.6 using the old logic from the readme files to use the closest version below your actual OS. It appears on the list of applications in "Advanced Options" but can't find it anywhere to launch it.

Anyone get Sametime for Storm working?

YOu could ask your IT staff to create a software delivery and push it from the BES to your device ( and all the rest in your company )

Default sametime 8.1 works for me

I have Sametime running on my Storm.

I didn't even have to reinstall it, it came over using the switch device wizard...

Could it be in the download folder on the home screen?

I looked in every folder. Mine didn't come across with the switch device wizard. Pushing through BES only works 25% of the time (at least that is our success rate with other BBs in the company). We found javaloader to be the only reliable method to install it.

Not a big deal, the Storm's going back. I've become disenchanted with Vz over the years for crippling features. I was hoping the Storm would tilt the table in Vz's favor but I think I will find an AT&T store to consider the Bold.

Thanks.

Angry Same problem.

I have the same problem . The app seem to have installed but I cannot find the icon in any of the folders to launch it.

I have tried with versions 1.1.0 - 2.1.1. Every version shows up in "Advance Options -> Applications" but never an icon. I have tried using the OTA installer and Desktop Manager 4.7.

If anyone has a solution let us know.

When you say you have Sametime running on your Storm, do you mean the mobile client, or the Enterprise Messenger client?

Default New Enterprise Messenger Client Available

Opening tickets with RIM works, suddenly today, they released a newer version of the client, so I put it on our intranet, and eagerly awaiting our storm users to install it

Hmmm... I can load 2.2.10 but it only appears to support portrait mode and you can not hide the keyboard. I guess that's better than no support.

Thanks.

On the orientation... to initiate a chat you are stuck in portrait mode with suretype keyboard, when responding to a chat, landscape mode is available and the display can be rotated.

Don't mean to go off topic but is there any way for me to install Sametime on my phone without going through my IT department?

Javaloader, usb cable and the 7 .cod files from RIM (used to be 2 .cod files for previous versions). For english, that would be:

net_rim_bb_qm_sametime-1.cod
net_rim_bb_qm_sametime-2.cod
net_rim_bb_qm_sametime-3.cod
net_rim_bb_qm_sametime-4.cod
net_rim_bb_qm_sametime-5.cod
net_rim_bb_qm_sametime.cod
net_rim_bb_qm_sametime_resource_en.cod

For French, I assume you either sub "net_rim_bb_qm_sametime_resource_fr.cod" for "localization" or maybe you can load both and it lets you choose. Not sure as I have never done bilingual. I tried adding the _fr file to mine and it stayed english so I am not certain how to achieve multi-language support. Maybe you can only have ony language .cod file.

Has anybody tried the IBM Sametime 8 Client (not the one from RIM)?

Edit:
Oh... did your IT updated the device.xml on the BES Server? For example if you are using a Storm the Server doesn´t know the device. And will not push out software. The IT guy should check the "Software configuration status" if there exist a line "GetHHCodePackages reported: HHCM_DEVICE_NOT_SUPPORTED. Upgrade your copy of device.xml" then he need to get the latest devices.xml from the desktop manager and place it on the server.

Can someone provide a link to download the software? I can't find it on RIM's website.

Thanks!

I downloaded the desktop files and have them on my laptop and launched the Loaded.exe file then I clicked on Add to map to the folder where sametime.alx is. I got an error message that says: No additional applications designed for your device were found.

I then opened the OTA files and clicked on loaded.htm. It opened IE and asked to plug in my device. I entered in my password and the files loaded without any issues.

I now have Sametime working on my Storm.

Thanks for the post!
