WES or Bust

Okay everyone, I'm getting so tired and bored about reading about the BB 8330 CDMA Curve, and BB 9000, that if and when RIM finally introduces/releases these models, I won't care. That's what I say now, anyway.
Is RIM waiting until MAY 13 - 15 when WES takes place in Orlando, Fl to make any announcements about new BlackBerrys? As usual, we'll all have to be patient and wait!!

The BlackBerry 8330 will be announced and available prior to WES. Although this is pure speculation, it appears the BlackBerry 9000 will be announced the week of WES (a la BlackBerry Curve in 2007) and available by June/July. This is based on a number of things that have been leaked on to the internet (Vodafone slides, for example). The OS for the 9000 is in it's carrier certification infancy (version 4.6.0.4), so that may or may not put it on track for the mid-Summer release. RIM will be hard-pressed not to announce it during WES. Heaven knows that everyone and their mom at RIM wants to carry one of these devices in Orlando - they were the envy of WES 2007 and I'm sure they liked the attention.

Well because of the event, obviously, RIM is just buying more time to announce these products, while testing them out. In any case, I'm excited to see what future products, other than the ones that are gonna be obviously announce are gonna be (i.e. BES 5.0)
Can't wait, see you all there guys!

I don't think it has anything to do with WES. The carrier certification process (4.6.0.1) for the 9000 just began a couple weeks ago. I think WES 2008 is a target date they want to make rather than one they simply want to delay to. They're being very optimistic with 3 months of testing. I could see the device easily slipping to an August release time frame, but let's hope not.

Thanks Jibi for the info. Am very pleased to hear about the BB 8330. Canadian CDMA users have been waiting with great anticipation for this device. And hope that BELL MOBILITY and/or TELUS release it A.S.A.P.
It sounds as though RIM will be making some exciting announcements at WES relative to the 9000 series!!

Jibi,
Again, thanks for this info. Can you be more specific as to when RIM will be announcing the availability of the BB 8330 Curve? The suspense is killing me! Do you know if it will be in March or April? And what OS it will have? Thanks.

Sprint will be mid-April, if not delayed. Still unknown for Verizon, although I'm hearing later than Sprint, probably mid to late Q2. Not sure on the Canadian carriers. OS will likely be 4.5.0 (beta versions for 4.3.1 are available).

Thanks jibi. If SPRINT in fact releases BB 8330 in mid April, then BELL MOBILITY should follow very soon thereafter. Am very pleased to hear that the OS will likely be 4.5.0!! WOW - way to go RIM.

Ditto, most of our execs would of jumped on the bandwagon and swap their 8830's if the verizon curve was a hybrid World edition phone.

There is a fairly large need for phones w/ out cameras in business so I think a WE BB w/ camera is not going to become a common theme.

Camera isn't a huge deal breaker as they have policies I can enable on the BES if needed.

Complexx,
I do agree with you, but given the institution i work for (a Museum) our business model does have a need for cameras. As we work in a huge museum here, and curators and directors would like to take pictures of art and samples to other employees for research and procurement. Likewise, as i said, i just wished i can have my cake and eat it too, but unfortunately, given the nature of some of these curators/execs, they travel internationally, which just points us back to ATT/TMO.
Our telecom guy has a big Verizon account, so that makes it even more difficult to work with. It'll be a while till we see LTE, so i aint' holding my breath!
