Hello, i got the Blackberry curve today and am now stuck on how to add my hotmail to the email accounts. Ive done a lot of searches here and around the web but have yet to find anything relevant to the UK service provider o2.

I did find a poster somewhere who said they had set up hotmail on their o2 blackberry but no more details were given and i am unable to add my account using o2email.co.uk.

Can anyone help?

We have had some information that some devices will only work with hotmail if you upgrade your account to hotmail plus...

Hotmail works on the fact that when you sign in to your email account they also show you plenty of adverts (and there in theroy get your moneys worth, if you are not visiting their sites you aint seeing the adverts) By upgrading to hotmail plus they get their money in that way instead (I've heard its about £12 a year)

The other way that may get you around this problem is to go and set up your hotmail account to forward all emails to your new o2 email address (username@o2email.co.uk) and that in theroy will forward to your Blackberry.

hey thanks for replying. Hotmail doesnt actually have a forwarding option which i was annoyed to find out earlier...

I have just been reading about this hotmail plus thing though, and it seems it could work... im goin to give it a try.

If anyone else here has a blackberry on o2, it would be handy if you could tell me what IM clients you have managed to get working ? I read that only yahoo messenger seems to work, is that true?

I'm glad you sorted out the hotmail, I'm not too sure on any IM systems but on my 8300 is a symbol saying "Get Yahoo Messenger". Dunno how it works and the data costs thou.....

Okay after a whole day of searching and messing about [nothing is ever ever easy] at 12:30 last night I finally found out how to install things like Yak on messenger and even Opera on an o2 Blackberry.

got the "new" username from o2, not sure yet if it makes the access faster....

APN:mobile.o2.co.uk
Username for APN:faster
Password for APN:password

For some reason o2 out of the box wont let you use these programs, but after using that info it will.
