BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.2647 (All Languages)
This release will work on any carrier's device by following the directions below.

Package Version: 6.0.0.2647
Consisting of:
Applications: 6.0.0.600
Software Platform: 6.6.0.223
File name: 9800AllLang_PBr6.0.0_rel2647_PL6.6.0.223_A6.0.0.60 0 .exe
File size: 195MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here:
AT&T: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...E4F82F9F00E7D4
Vodafone https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...374C8919D2074E

Instructions for installing on the 9800:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Thanks, JS! Dammit though, its kinda frustrating when there's not a single beta OS available that's newer than the official release!

Downloaded this as a beta, but was waiting for more feedback before loading up. If I have a chance will load this one up this afternoon. I have found with .570 and more so .575 that my torch would freeze in weak signal areas while locking on to the signal.

Loaded up yesterday afternoon. No issues loading up or with BES reactivation. No "floating icons" wich reappeared with .570 and .575 on initial load-up. All programs tried so far work as expected. So far so good, although very initial feeling is that battery life may be down.

The link above to the Vodafone download isn't broken, works fine for me.

Also, ATT has not made .600 official.

Since I'm on AT&T, I am given the option of updating to .600 OTA. I've always used the above instructions to update. Does OTA updating work well? Anybody tried it? Is it problematic?

OTA updating is problematic.

Just updated from .526 to .600. One of the bugs that bothers me still has not be fixed. This is the one where you have your BIS email account set up so that it only downloads the headers and not the content until you ask for it.
When I ask for the content to be downloaded (screen says "More available", tap screen and select "More All") the data downloads, but is not displayed.
I have to close the message and open it again to see the freshly-downloaded content. I should say that this does not happen all the time, but often.

Anybody else see this? Or is it just me?

Blackberry Maps stayed on the phone with an ATT update to 600. Otherwise, I can't tell it from 526.

Just finished the update, all seems well, but I'm a little confused about the version number. In the Device version section, it gives me what looks like three different things. It says, "6.0 Bundle 2647 (v6.0.0.600, Platform 6.6.0.223)

With all those numbers, I don't know what to put in my profile.

I downloaded this via BB desktop manager just fine. However, battery life went off a cliff. Also, I get the 'wait' clock almost every time I open the darn thing now. I haven't perused the forum yet for fixes but wanted to chime in here with my experience.

I did note a drop in battery life but have recently deleted all the applications I don't use that might be running in the background. I'm waiting to see what that does.

Well, I'm starting to think I shoudn't have done it. Battery life has decreased a bit even though I deleted every app I don't use or need, and I tried to make sure I set everything the same as I had it before. I have noticed a couple other negatives as well. The "Mark Prior Openned" has failed to work most of the time now. It always worked before. Now, I can select it three or four times and nothing, then, it might mark one message open. That, and the sense that the BB seems to lock up for several seconds periodically. Never noticed that before either.

I feel like this update has made my BB more of a pain when it work flawlessly before.

I am now thinking about what it will take to go back. I've never tried that but this is awful. Yesterday, around 7PM, I picked it up and punched in my password and then it just froze. I started counting to see how long. After 30 seconds and it was still frozen, I said the heck with it and did a battery-pull. When it rebooted, it was just fine. I figured I never did a battery-pull since the update although, it did restart it a couple times as I was removing software, but I figured it would be okay.

This morning, a few minutes ago, I picked it up and punched in my password and it is frozen.... Now, since I typed this much, I just checked and it is working. I suspect it is busy doing something but this is a bit ridicules in my opinion. I was always able to use it instantly before the update. And with the battery-life thing, it seems like it is using the battery just about twice as fast as it used to. I used to have to charge it every third day because I left the location service off. I still have everything set the way I had it set before but it is still very battery hungry.

So, my next adventure is seeing what it will take to downgrade back to what I had before if that is even possible.

I had made a post in another thread asking if there were any "issues" with the newest update. I believe someone mentioned the battery life thing and if that is all it was, I guess I could live with that. But nobody mention the "freezing up" problem or the fact that "Mark Prior Open" failed to work on occasion so now I have serious doubts.

I have always been loyal to ATT and Blackberry but now I am seeing why the Android market is growing. I had the same issue updating my last Blackberry. Burn me twice and you loose. The only way I'll ever buy another Blackberry now is if Rim starts making the updates reversable so you can simple downgrade back to what you had before if you don't like what it does.

You are able to downgrade your Operating System.

Go to your Desktop Manager and click on "Application Loader", on the next menu click "Update Software"

After reading your device, it will give you options between current, upgrade, preferred and downgrade.

If you need additional help (including screenshot info) let me know. If you don't already have the operating system you wish to downgrade to on your computer you may need to download it first.

Good Luck,
--Phil
