Default profile problem and media card

Please Login to Remove!

hello all, i have 2 problems.

1. i created a profile, called preferred, and EVERYTIME i restart the phone, the profile is gone, i have to recreate it from scratch.

2. in my mediacard i had movies that i watched, i plugin the bb to my laptop, erase the files on the media card and put some new ones. but when i unplug the bb and go to the media folder, into movies, i still see the old one, but they wont even play, if i click one, it plays the new one intalled.

any ideas?

1 - are you sure you are saving the profile and not just backing out without saving?

2 - Do you actually see the file itself in a folder, or are you looking at a file list created by the media player. I suspect the later. And in that case, delete all .dat files on the media card and let the device re-scan the card.

hi aiharkness, thanks for your reply.
1. i do save, as when i leave the app of profiles, the bb asks me if i wanna save them, i hit yes.
2. when i plug in the bb to my laptop, i do NOT see the fils, even if i click "show hidden folders" they are not there, but when i unplug the bbb, go to media, i still see them, even thought i cant delete them. as of now i have like 50 files in the media card, but only 2 are real files.

any clues?

On issue with profiles, I don't know. Perhaps try doing a hard reset (battery pull) and then try creating and saving a new profile again.

On second question, do what I suggest above. Read the media card on a computer, either in a card reader or set the blackberry in mass storage mode, then search and delete all .dat files. If you have the device set to encrypt files, you will see the files as .dat.rem instead of just .dat. Delete these and then check. Be sure and delete all of them. There will probably be one in each folder that contains media files.

Yes. Delete them all. When you disconnect the blackberry from mass storage mode or re-insert the media card and restart, the device will re-scan the files. If you want to play it safe, copy the contents of the card to a folder on the computer before you delete anything. That would be a smart thing to do anyway.
