Default Outlook alias not resolving on BB

Please Login to Remove!

Hi.

Recently our CEO has asked us to create shorter email aliases for some existing email addresses. The purpose is so that he doesn't have to type the entire longer email address, but instead can just type 2 or 3 characters.

I've made the email aliases on the Exchange2k3 server, however they don't appear to be resolving to the BB.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get this to work?

Thanks in advance.

What field in the addressbook would this alias show up in?

Not sure how this would work, but do have a suggestion. You might want to walk your CEO through the process of syncing contacts with the device, then initiating e-mail from his contacts. This would kill two birds with one stone - CEO only needs to push a few buttons to find the correct contact and start a message, and you don't have to monkey around with aliases. Entering the body of the e-mail is going to take a lot more typing than entering an address, so either way, he's going to have to do some typing on the device. I think creating aliases simply for his convenience sets a bad precedent. Just because something can be accomplished with the technology doesn't necessarily make it a good idea.

The reason I ask is that if you are creating or using a field that does not exist in the BB adress book then it will not transfer over to the device.

Set up outlook using the feilds available in the BB, and get it just the way you want it. Try one contact as a test. Delete the contact from the phone sync with Outlook. If it works then do that to all contacts. Get them exactly the way you want them in Outlook. Wipe the contacts off of the decive then sync with Outlook.

I hope this helps.
