Default any suggestions on a new handset

Please Login to Remove!

Basically iv wanted a bold since rim released it, I got it 4 months ago an have had nothing but issues with it. Today I went to my network provider an have now reserver the 4th handset =(, but they also said I might be able to get another make other than BBB. Any ideas?

IMHO -- if you're used to RIM, don't go with another manufacturer. Also, don't let warranty exchange push you around...you're able to get whatever phone you want. I just upgraded (no charge) to a Bold 9000 from the Curve 8310, simply by saying "please", as I've had issues with my Curve.

What are the problems youre having with your bold? they may be fixable.

refurb's are hit-or-miss. the 8900 curve is OK, but IMO its just a fancy skin around the 8310. As for other manufacturers, I would say nokia smartphones are very reliable, but I'm honestly a big fan of the Samsung Jack -- Windows mobile is iffy, but i think its the closest OS to BlackBerry that you're going to find.

The problem with going through warranty exchange is that, at this point, you're ONLY going to get a refurb -- even if they send you a 'full kit'. Just happened to me less than a week ago. I'm having some speaker vibration issues with my bold already, which i cured with a business card taped to the battery cover -- if it acts up, though, i'll just keep swapping them out until my 1year is up...

if you're anywhere near an upgrade (my guess is less than 6months), talk to in-store retail -- a manager will be able to push up the upgrade. What always works is talking about going to another carrier. Down where I am (DC Metro), Verizon has the whole market. The second i mentioned switching to VZW, which I may actually end up doing, they were REALLY quick to settle my issue.

Edit: But honestly, I don't think I'd ever switch away from RIM phones, no matter how bad their quality control is. If you want six-sigma -- get a motorola.

are you on vodafone in the UK?
Your BB options are the Storm (touchscreen) the 8900 (no 3G) and the newly released 8520 (much like the 8900 with a couple of less features from what i can tell).

They may exachange for a different BB, they are not likely to give you an upgrade unless its actually time, even if you threaten to leave the network.

Hi Alex,

You had network specific issues with the Bold on Vodafone or handset related? Please give some more details as we're planning moving quite a few corporate blackberries to Vodafone UK and more than 70% of them are Bolds.

Thanks
