I have a unlocked 9530 sim card verizon,(euro. model), and dont know if I can download any freeware to use my gps. I dont need a data plan but love the phone for the organizer features.

As far as I know there is no European 9530. That device was made for Verizon and Sprint which are CDMA carriers, but it can also run on certain GSM EDGE networks.

GPS does not require a data plan, however maps (BB Maps, GoogleMaps, etc.) do. If you can use the lat/long readout then you are good to go, but if you need more, you have to have BB data.

Maps are downloaded as needed, not stored on the device.

If your on the ATT network it wont be long before they discover the BB and add a Blackberry Data plan. You might be better off if you check into one so you can select the lowest.

This is a euro model per newegg when I purchased it unlocked. Verizon USA of this model don't have a sim slot, mine actually has two. My problem is trying to bypass the VZ nav app . ,and trying to get a torrent file or something to activate it. I'm pretty sure I can load my garmin maps from my pc. Thanks for the input.

No, that's incorrect. The 9530 from Verizon DOES have a SIM card slot in it. I used a Verizon 9530 on T-Mobile for about 1 day before rejecting it.

Yours has one SIM card slot and one microSD card slot.

And if you are using it on AT&T they will add a data plan to your account.
