Welcome to the forums.

How did you convert them to an .ipd format? If they are in fact converted to an .ipd format, install BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

From there click on Backup/Restore > Advanced. Open the .ipd file and highlight Address Book and move it over to your device.

Hi. Thank you for your prompt reply. I have converted the files using Amber ABC converter. Just tried the method that you advised but to no avail. The contact list file was unable to be highlighted hence unable to transfer over to my address book.

Just don't understand why...

Go to Blackberry Desktop and perform an Advanced Restore (from Backup/Restore) and select the contacts database and transfer it over.

Hello,

I'm a 9700 newbie too. I used the "Switch Blackberry" from the Desktop Manager to transfer the data from my 8120 to my 9700. It was successful in transferring my settings, but it failed to transfer any of my music, picture or video files, nor my address book. When I tried to backup the address book from the 8120 and restore it into the 9700, it wouldn't let me do that because the ipd file is "read only". Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Do you have your music, picture, and video files on your media card?

Yes, move that over and it will carry your media with it.

For the Address book. Do you have a backup file? a .ipd file?

Yes. I have it as a .ipd file. But when I try to restore this file to my 9700 it won't let me, saying it is a read-only file. :(

Is your 9700 on a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server)? Go to Address Book > Options, is wireless reconcile on anywhere?
